NYC GUIDE - DAY IN WEST VILLAGE

West Village is one of my favorite neighborhoods in NYC. With lots of trendy restaurants and boutiques, there is always something to do in West Village and maybe you’ll even run into a celebrity or two! Whether you’re visiting NYC as a tourist or you live in the city already, follow my itinerary for a relaxing day filled with food, shopping, and fun 💛

1️⃣ Start your day off with lunch at Don Angie. Don Angie is one of the most famous restaurants in New York, and reservations are almost impossible to get. If you can’t snag a reservation, walk in at opening to get a seat at the bar. We ordered the lasagna (their most famous dish) and it was definitely worth the hype. It was so cheesy and yummy 🤤

2️⃣ After lunch, walk to Do Not Feed Alligators for a coffee, drink, or sweet treat. I ordered an iced matcha with oat milk, but they also have coffees, wines, and cocktails. This cafe is a great spot to sit and read a book, people watch, or just chat with a friend. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

3️⃣ Now that you’re fueled up with food and caffeine, spend the rest of the afternoon walking around and visiting the shops in West Village. We mostly window shopped, but did end up getting matching welding bracelets at Astrid & Miyu. Astrid & Miyu is a jewelry store that offers several services: welded bracelets, tattoos, and piercings. Their welded bracelets are all made out of solid gold, and you can pick from various chains and charms. I went with a yellow gold chain with a ruby charm. I love that the bracelet is so light and I don’t have to worry about taking it on and off ❤️

... Read moreAfter stumbling into Don Angie, a true West Village gem, I was immediately struck by its unique atmosphere. Walking in, you're greeted by an inviting dining room that perfectly balances modern chic with a cozy, old-school Italian charm. The interior isn't just a place to eat; it's an experience in itself. Dim lighting casts a warm glow over the tables, making it feel intimate and special even when bustling. I remember noticing the thoughtful decor – rich, deep jewel tones, plush banquettes, and tasteful, art deco-inspired art on the walls that added to the sophisticated yet welcoming vibe. It truly sets the stage for a memorable meal, far from your typical loud NYC restaurant. The red placemats with the distinctive Don Angie logo really caught my eye, adding a pop of color and a touch of branding without being overwhelming. The attention to detail extends to every corner of the Don Angie dining room. From the elegant place settings, complete with polished silverware and delicate glassware, to the subtle background music that creates a lively yet not intrusive hum, everything contributes to a relaxed yet upscale feeling. It’s clear they put a lot of thought into creating an environment that complements their incredible food. The layout of the dining room, with its comfortable booths and well-spaced tables, allows for both intimate conversations and a vibrant communal energy. You feel part of the West Village buzz, yet comfortably tucked away. While waiting for our table (or if you manage to grab a bar seat like I did!), I took a moment to appreciate the restaurant's exterior as well. Nestled on a charming West Village street, the Don Angie exterior blends seamlessly with the neighborhood's historic architecture. It has an understated elegance that makes it stand out without being flashy. The classic brick facade and inviting entrance, often adorned with subtle seasonal decorations, hint at the culinary delights that await inside. Even from the street, you get a sense of the sophisticated experience that defines Don Angie. It’s the kind of place that looks just as appealing from the outside as it is inside, drawing you in with its classic New York charm. For anyone looking to capture the essence of the West Village dining scene, Don Angie's interior is definitely worth experiencing. It’s not just about the famous lasagna; it’s about the entire sensory journey. The warmth of the dining room interior makes you want to linger, enjoying every moment. Whether you're planning a romantic dinner or a celebratory lunch, the ambiance here truly elevates the occasion. It's one of those places that feels distinctly New York, offering a blend of classic charm and contemporary flair that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the West Village. I'd highly recommend taking a moment to soak it all in – it's part of what makes dining there so special, leaving you with memories of not just great food, but a truly beautiful setting.
