I’ve never finished a book before, either.

... Read moreSeriously, I feel like I'm not alone in this, but reading can be such a struggle sometimes! I picked up 'Leviathan' by Scott Westerfeld, and it's genuinely interesting – I'm only on Chapter 2, but the world-building is so cool with all the steampunk vibes and mechanical creatures. The problem is, I hit Chapter 2 and suddenly, it's like my brain just switches off. It's so exhausting trying to sit down and focus, and even when I do, I get tired way too quickly. Has anyone else felt this way? I really want to get back into reading consistently and actually finish a book, but I just feel completely stuck. I've been thinking about what makes it so hard, and I wonder if it's all the distractions around us, or maybe just feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of amazing books out there. My phone is constantly buzzing, and sometimes just the idea of settling down for a long reading session feels like a huge commitment. I keep telling myself I'll get through 'finishing all these books,' but it feels like a monumental task when I can barely get past the first few chapters of one! I've started looking for strategies to help myself. One thing I've heard is to just start small. Instead of aiming for an hour, maybe just commit to 10 or 15 minutes a day. Even if it's just a few pages, it's progress. I'm also considering creating a dedicated 'reading nook' – somewhere comfy and free of distractions, so my brain associates that spot purely with reading. Maybe that will help with the focus issue. Another tip I stumbled upon was to keep a reading journal, not just for notes on the book, but to track how many pages I read each day. Seeing that progress might be a huge motivator for someone like me who gets easily discouraged. Some people also suggest trying different types of books or formats. Maybe 'Leviathan' is a great book, but perhaps I need something a bit lighter or a different genre to build up my reading endurance first. Or maybe audiobooks could be a good way to 'read' when I'm too tired to hold a physical book. I know a lot of people swear by them for getting through more stories. I'm also wondering if joining an online book club could help – having other people to discuss chapters with might make it feel less like a solitary chore and more like an engaging activity. If you've been in this position, feeling stuck and exhausted by reading, what truly helped you? How did you overcome that mental block to not just start, but actually finish books? I'm open to any and all tips and advice. I really want to enjoy reading again and finally experience the satisfaction of closing the back cover of a book I've completed!

Maybe finding an audio version and following along with your own book might work? I usually do this since I can't read without being distracted by something.🍋

I’ve never seen a book like this 😱
I’ve seen two books in one before but I’ve never seen one where it’s printed in different orientations! Normally they just have book one take up the first however many pages, then start book two with a page in the middle letting you know you’ve started a new book…or at least that’s what I’ve seen.
