I've experimented a lot, and here are my go-to tips for rocking fun designs on both short and square nails. Making Short Nails Shine: Short nails are super practical and chic. The key is to choose designs that don't overwhelm the smaller canvas. For instance, my 'Sunset Flowers' idea could be adapted with thin, wispy petals going towards the cuticle, or just a few delicate dots. This creates a visually appealing effect without making the nail look too busy. Vertical or Diagonal Elements: Instead of wide horizontal stripes, think about thin vertical lines or diagonal color blocks. This can actually make your nails appear longer! Negative Space: This is your best friend for short nails! Leaving parts of your natural nail showing can create an illusion of length and makes the design pop without looking too busy. A simple French tip, like the classic white ones I showed with the cherry illustrations, works wonders. You could even do a 'floating' French tip where the line doesn't connect to the sides.
