Books I’ve Read So Far This Year 📚

2023/4/10 Edited to

... Read moreHey fellow bookworms! I’m so excited to dive deeper into the amazing books I've read this year. As someone who's always on the hunt for that next unforgettable read, I know how hard it can be to choose. So, I wanted to share why these particular 4 and 5-star picks totally captured my heart and why I think you’ll want to read them too! First up, let’s talk about Colleen Hoover. She really outdid herself with 'Verity,' which I gave a solid 5 stars. This isn't your typical CoHo romance; it’s a masterclass in psychological suspense – truly creative, creepy, and a bit cruel. The plot twist had me gasping out loud, and it's one of those books you just can't stop thinking about. If you're looking for a dark, thrilling ride that will mess with your head, 'Verity' is an absolute must-read. Then there's 'Reminders of Him,' another fantastic read from her, earning 4 stars. While the ending might be a tad predictable, the journey is incredibly moving. I found it so easy to forge an emotional connection with the characters, and it’s a sad but sweet story of forgiveness and second chances that really tugs at your heartstrings. 'All Your Perfects,' also 5 stars, hit me hard with its emotional impact, tackling sensitive themes like fertility struggles with such honesty. Despite the heavy topics, it delivers a beautiful, sweet ending that feels earned. And we can't forget 'November 9,' a 5-star gem that's fast-paced and incredibly romantic, also featuring a delightful plot twist! But it wasn't all Colleen Hoover! For those who love a truly shocking plot twist, Jeneva Rose's 'The Perfect Marriage' (5 stars) is a non-stop suspensefest. From the very first chapter, I was hooked, constantly trying to figure out what was happening. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, the ending completely blew my mind. It’s the kind of book you'll recommend to everyone just to see their reaction. And speaking of clever twists, Alice Feeney's 'Rock Paper Scissors' (4 stars) was a brilliantly crafted mystery. I admit, it was confusing initially, and I found myself a little lost in the beginning, but trust me, stick with it! The way everything comes together with a mind-bending plot twist is pure genius. You’ll be piecing clues together until the very last page, and the payoff is so incredibly satisfying. Similarly, Alex Michaelides' 'The Silent Patient' (4 stars) was hard to start for me, but it was absolutely worth the effort. The build-up of tension and the slow unraveling of secrets lead to one of the most twisted plot twist endings I’ve ever encountered. It’s a compelling psychological thriller that will keep you guessing. Finally, for something truly unique and a bit disturbing, Gillian Flynn’s 'Sharp Objects' (4 stars) is fascinating. It’s a dark, atmospheric read that delves deep into the protagonist’s psyche and a small-town mystery. While there were a few details I felt were unnecessary, the overall story and its unsettling plot twist stayed with me long after I finished it. It's definitely an interesting and disturbing read for those who appreciate literary thrillers. I hope this deeper dive into my favorite reads helps you find your next great book! There’s something truly special about discovering a story that captivates you, whether it’s a heart-wrenching romance or a suspenseful thriller with an epic twist. Happy reading, everyone!
