Nova had to hustle and scheme to survive; she was basically robbing guys with her boyfriend, who is Sensation. Sensation is a jack boy who is currently doing time for a 15-year sentence after being caught with stolen goods. Nova swears to hold Sensation down through thick and thin. But everything changes when Sensation’s older brother, Master, steps into the picture. At 38, Master is everything Sensation wishes he could be: powerful, respected, and the undisputed boss of H-town. Nova can’t resist Master’s charms and falls for him hard and fast, leaving Sensation forgotten in the past. Sensation gets out early, and vengeance is on his mind, both for Master and Nova. Not to mention Master has other people coming after him, people he thought were loyal to him.
💭 My Thoughts
Jada Jones GIRL!! You did that. This book was so messy and had me stressed OUT!! Everybody was trifling in some way. Master was wrong in so many ways, but he was also naive. How he did sensation, then wanted to make everything right after 19 years that’s crazy. I like that Master took accountability for everything, but if he had done it sooner, a lot of things wouldn't have happened. Master was a good guy in some way; he was trying to right his wrong. Master had snakes all around him and didn't know it. People he considered family were trying to take him out, smh. Sensation was a hot mess all around. He treated Nova so badly that she deserved better than him. Sensation was in pain; he was hurt because Master never acknowledged him, never showed he cared, as if he were embarrassed by him. Nova and Master had good chemistry. But Master made me mad with how he treated Nova. When his wife, Maloni, found out about them, he wanted to work everything out with Maloni.
I feel like if his wife weren’t trying to kill him, he probably would have stayed with her. People probably thought Nova liked Master because he had money, but I don't see that she really started to fall in love with him. He made Nova want to be a better person. A’shaunie was pathetic in how she treated her sister over a ninja. It's wild to me, all because she wanted Sensation. Shaunie wanted Sensation since they were kids, but he chose Nova, and she has been hating dissing since then.
Shaunie, oooh, I couldn't stand her. I was glad when Nova beat her azz.
Dru, those jokes she keeps throwing at Master weren't jokes she was hating. I knew she was a snake; she just gave me that vibe. The age gap between Master and Nova was a lot, but it worked for them; it balanced out. Nova made Master feel young again and kept him on his toes, and he was teaching and showing things. It’s wild cause when Nova and Shaunie were kids, Nova said she wanted Master, and Shaunie said she wanted Sensation. Now look, they're with both. But I think this book needs a sequel, 'cause it feels unfinished to me.
