Every Woman Goes Thru 4 Phases
Every girl should know this!
Your body, as a woman, goes thru 4 phases every. Single. Month. 🤯
There are ways to eat and work out to best support your body and hormones during each phase.
⚡️First is the follicular phase:
Starts right after your period ends. It lasts 7-10 days. You’ll have a lot of energy, feel very creative, you’ll need gut healthy foods to metabolize the estrogen that’s building, intense workouts are fair game!
🏃🏽♀️Then you have the ovulating phase:
This is when you’re fertile and lasts 3-5 days after the follicular phase ends. Your estrogen is peaking so you’ll feel REALLY good! You’re inspired, may have some new ideas, and your skin is glowing! Gut healthy foods are still a priority and complex carbs give you energy for ovulation. Workouts like HIIT are still fair game!
🧘🏻♀️Then comes the luteal phase:
This is the one leading up to your period, it lasts 12-16 days. You’ll likely feel more anti social and introspective, have lots of self care nights, you need warm anti inflammatory foods, because your body is more prone to bloating. Your cortisol is on the rise so prioritize low impact workouts to support your cortisol levels.
🩸And last but not least, the menstrual/period phase:
For most people the period is around 5-7 days. Major staying inside vibes, probably rethinking your whole life, you need to sleep more and give yourself a lot of grace. Lot of anti inflammatory foods are needed, eat foods high in magnesium for cramps and foods high in iron to replenish the blood loss. Workouts should be very minimal, think walking or stretching.
It’s super simple to get the hang of knowing your full cycle, and it has changed my life in so many ways. ❤️🩹
To help you learn the phases, I recommend the Stardust period tracker app. It tells you what phase you are in, tells you all about what your hormones are doing during each phase, and it also syncs your cycle to the moon phases which is super cute! 💓🌙

The menstrual cycle is a natural part of a woman’s life, and understanding its phases can significantly influence overall health and well-being. Each phase plays an essential role in physical and emotional health. 1. **Menstrual Phase (Days 1-5)**: This phase marks the start of the cycle when menstruation occurs. Hormone levels drop, which may lead to feelings of fatigue, mood swings, and cramps. Women are encouraged to consume magnesium-rich foods like dark chocolate and hydrating foods like cucumbers to assist with energy levels and cramps. Gentle movements such as yoga or walking are beneficial. 2. **Follicular Phase (Days 6-13)**: Following menstruation, estrogen levels rise, providing renewed energy and motivation. It’s a great time for cardio workouts and group classes like HIIT or Pilates. Nutritionally, it’s ideal to focus on protein and fiber-rich foods, promoting gut health and energy for the coming ovulation. 3. **Ovulation Phase (Days 14-16)**: This peak phase is characterized by high estrogen and testosterone, enhancing confidence and motivation. It’s excellent for active engagement, socializing, and intense workouts. Foods rich in vitamin C and zinc can help maintain energy levels and fuel this vibrant time. 4. **Luteal Phase (Days 17-28)**: As the cycle approaches menstruation, progesterone rises. It can lead to pre-menstrual symptoms such as bloating and fatigue. Women are encouraged to focus on foods that are anti-inflammatory, such as warm, comforting meals. Light to moderate exercise like Pilates or light stretching supports physical and emotional balance during this introspective time. Tracking these phases with tools like period tracking apps can empower women to tune into their bodies and create a more harmonious lifestyle that aligns with their menstrual rhythms. This understanding forms the basis for greater self-care, tailored nutrition, and optimal fitness routines.
