Tipping Culture?

$0 tip on a Bud Light …

Tipping culture is always a debate, but what about at the bar? If your bartender grabs and opens a beer for you, do you tip every time? And if so—$1, $2, percentage?

I wanna hear BOTH sides .. No fighting lol #BartenderLife #BarTalk #Tipping #ServiceIndustry

... Read moreTipping at bars is a topic that often sparks debate among patrons and service industry workers alike. From my experience, tipping culture varies widely depending on the bar setting, the service provided, and personal preferences. When a bartender simply grabs and opens a beer like a Bud Light, some people feel a dollar or two is a fair tip to acknowledge the service, even if minimal. Others believe tipping every time, regardless of the drink complexity, is a way to show appreciation for the bartender’s effort and to encourage continued good service. In some bars, especially casual or dive bars, tipping may not follow strict rules, and patrons often tip what feels right. However, in higher-end venues or cocktail bars where bartenders craft personalized drinks, tipping 15–20% of the total bill is standard. It's important to recognize that bartenders rely heavily on tips as a significant part of their income, so even small tips like $1 or $2 can contribute positively. Interestingly, the tipping culture at bars also varies regionally and culturally. In the US, tipping is customary and expected, but in some other countries, tipping bartenders is less conventional or included in the service charge. Additionally, some mindful customers choose to tip based on the level of interaction and service — if the bartender engages warmly or offers recommendations, a tip might be more generous. Ultimately, whether it’s $0 or $2 for opening a beer, tipping should reflect appreciation for service while fitting personal budgets. Open dialogues like these help bridge understanding between patrons and service workers, making tipping a respectful and fair practice within the #ServiceIndustry.

People who work at restaurants do NOT get paid a lot. Yes, they picked the job, but that could be the only job they could get. If you can spend $10 on alcohol, then you can spend an extra $2-5 on a tip. The real issue is people spending over $100 and not tipping. If they can spend all that money, they can spend an extra $10 or so. Waitress aren’t asking for an extra $100. There’s no reason people shouldn’t be tipping $3-5. If you’re not going to tip a few extra dollars, then you DONT need to be eating out. Most waitresses who don’t get tipped are the nicest people. My family personally always tips good. I’m talking $30-50. And we are not the richest. The only time i don’t tip and i think it’s acceptable not to, is when you order with a cashier.

I just went to a restaurant where the server spilled our drinks on the table and didn’t clean it up or apologize, and then brought us dirty silverware. When you go out to eat, it’s reasonable to expect basic care and professionalism. If the service is genuinely poor, a tip shouldn’t be automatic

So I've been working in food service for about 4 years now and it has definitely changed my outlook on how I treat and tip servers/waitresses. Servers at my job make about 2-4 an hour and rely on tips for their paycheck while kitchen crew is at a set 12-20 an hour. While servers have their g

US tipping got worse
I'm in a bit of a dilemma. In the US, tipping has become quite the headache. Last year, a 10% tip option was still available at restaurants, but this year, the lowest option is 15%! Sometimes, the service is barely there, yet they expect a tip with no hesitation. Should we just go with the m

I’m honestly so confused by tipping culture. Why am I expected to give extra money every time because someone’s boss does not pay them enough. I’m Gen Z. Inflation is already killing us. Rent is crazy. Food is crazy. Houses feel impossible. And now on top of that I’m supposed to add extra e

Tipping Should Be Optional, Not Expected
I genuinely believe businesses should pay their employees properly. A livable wage shouldn’t depend on whether or not a stranger decides to leave a few extra dollars. If I receive great service and want to leave a tip, I gladly will. But I shouldn’t feel pressured by a screen, a tip jar, or awkw
