We love a good spell jar! But, how do we dispose of them?
When our spell jars have completed their purpose, what do we do with it? There are several ways depending on the nature of the spell! I hope this helps someone! #Lemon8Diary #spellcraft #spells #purpose #spelljar
Disposing of spell jars can feel like an important ritual in itself since these jars contain concentrated intention, herbs, crystals, and energies that have served their magical purpose. Based on my personal experience and practices shared within the spellcraft community, the way you dispose of a spell jar depends heavily on the type of spell it held and the energies involved. For example, prosperity jars that are intended to attract success, money, or career opportunities are best buried near sources of continued abundance like a garden or rose bushes. This practice symbolizes giving back to the earth and nurturing the flow of prosperity. Meanwhile, protection jars, which are crafted to shield or banish negative energy, are often buried near water sources or at property boundaries to continue their safeguarding effect. I’ve also found that honoring jars, especially ancestor jars, should be respectfully buried close to family land or ancestors' resting places, creating a spiritual connection that honors your heritage. Love and healing jars are typically buried in clean soil or near flowers to foster growth and renewal. Before burial, I recommend cleansing the jar to clear lingering energy, speaking words of gratitude for the magic it has performed, and setting an intention for the release or transformation of that energy. It’s important to avoid simply throwing spell jars in the trash to prevent disrupting the energy or disrespecting the work done. Another tip is to use biodegradable materials whenever possible when creating spell jars, so they can naturally decompose without harming the environment. Reusing jars or recycling components like lids is also a mindful practice that lowers waste. If burying isn't an option, other methods such as burning or releasing the components into water may work, but it’s essential to research and respect traditional or modern adaptations according to the spell’s nature. These disposal rituals not only honor the spiritual work but also help clear the way for new intentions, maintaining a healthy flow of energy in your magical practices.
