From my personal experience, dealing with narcissistic individuals requires more than just awareness—it’s about actively preserving your mental and emotional well-being. Narcissists often project their flaws onto others, seek constant validation through grandstanding, and hijack conversations to control the narrative. Recognizing these behaviors early can save you from unnecessary conflict and emotional exhaustion. What helped me was setting clear boundaries and reminding myself that I am not responsible for their inflated self-image or accountability evasion. Instead of engaging with their dramatics, I learned to focus on “energy over ego,” which means valuing my peace and resilience over their attempts to dominate or manipulate. This approach transformed difficult interactions into opportunities for growth rather than stress.
