The Story You Tell Yourself Becomes Your Life
🌿 If someone else spoke to you the way you speak to yourself, would you call it love or abuse?
There was a time when I genuinely believed life was against me. Every setback felt like proof that I wasn’t meant for more. I carried that story everywhere with me. The more I repeated it, the more it became real, until eventually it felt like there was no way out of it.
What I didn’t realize back then was that my mind was always listening. Every time I told myself “this is just how it is,” I was training myself to see only the struggle. My brain went searching for evidence to prove I was stuck, and of course it found it. That’s the dangerous part of the stories we tell ourselves—they grow until they feel like the truth.
But something changes when you begin telling yourself a different story. When you whisper, even on the hardest days, that you’re capable. When you remind yourself that you’ve survived things you never thought you could. When you look for proof that maybe things are working out for you in ways you can’t yet see. Slowly, your perspective shifts. You notice the small wins. You notice your resilience. You notice the strength you overlooked while you were too focused on the pain.
Life will always have hard seasons. Shifting the story you tell yourself doesn’t erase them, but it changes how you carry them. It keeps you from breaking before life even gets the chance to test you.
Be mindful of the words you repeat to yourself. Your mind is listening. And eventually, you will believe the story you keep telling. Make it one that builds you, not one that breaks you. 🦋✨
