Affirmations are more than just words, they are a guiding force that can transform your mindset and shape your reality. Since starting my healing journey, I found a lot of comfort in affirmations, as they have been my glimmers of hope that things will work out for me well. It's become my daily dose of positivity and self-belief.
I was gifted my favorite deck of affirmation cards by Intelligent Change and that's how I got into affirmations. I pull a new card every week, and once I finish the deck, I shuffle the cards and start again. Sometimes these affirmations serve as great reminders of what I should focus on for the week, sometimes they correspond well with what I'm going through. I always write it down in my journal and look at it every morning, since I keep them on my desk.
So I wanted to pull a couple of cards for you, let me know which affirmation speaks to you the most:
〰 I am full of energy and life from the moment I wake up till the moment I go to sleep
〰 Every day I experience the joy of receiving and giving abundance
〰 I'm always in the right place at the right time
〰 I am getting healthier and more joyful in every way, every day
They have more affirmation card decks on the Intelligent Change website, and I highly recommend checking them out if you are looking for good quality cards.

... Read moreI've been on this incredible journey of using affirmations to truly center myself, and honestly, it's been a game-changer for focusing on myself. It's more than just repeating words; it's about consciously shifting your internal dialogue to prioritize your well-being. When I started, I realized how much external noise was impacting my inner peace. Affirmations became my anchor.
One thing I learned is that 'focusing on myself' isn't selfish; it's essential for showing up as my best self for others too. I used to just read an affirmation and move on, but now I take time to really feel it. For instance, when I see an affirmation like 'I am full of energy and life from the moment I wake up till the moment I go to sleep' (which was on one of my cards, just like the one in the picture!), I don't just read it. I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and imagine myself vibrant and full of life throughout the day. It truly sets the tone.
Beyond just pulling a weekly card, I've found it helpful to integrate affirmations into different parts of my day. Sometimes, I'll write a new one on a sticky note and put it on my mirror, or set a reminder on my phone. Before a big meeting, I might quietly repeat 'I'm always in the right place at the right time' to boost my confidence. It's like giving myself tiny, powerful pep talks all day long. This simple practice helps me stay grounded and prevents me from getting swept away by external pressures.
The journey of 'focusing on myself' also involves nurturing my health and joy, and affirmations have been so powerful there. I often use phrases like 'I am getting healthier and more joyful in every way, every day.' The key is consistency. It's not about instant perfection, but about the gentle, daily reminder that I'm worthy of care and attention. I've even started using a 'Mindful Affirmations' approach, where I pair an affirmation with a few minutes of quiet reflection, really letting the meaning sink in.
If you're looking to deepen your own practice of focusing on yourself, I highly recommend creating or choosing affirmations that address specific areas you want to cultivate – maybe self-compassion, setting healthy boundaries, or fostering creativity. Don't be afraid to personalize them. The goal is to find what resonates deeply with you and helps you reconnect with your inner strength. It's amazing how much clarity and peace you can find when you dedicate just a small part of your day to this powerful self-care tool.
