Stop waiting for closure - give it to yourself

Most women don’t struggle because they don’t understand what happened.

They struggle because it feels unfinished.

And that feeling is what keeps the loop open.

When someone ghosts you, they already gave you an answer:

👉 they chose not to continue

👉 they avoided accountability

👉 they were comfortable leaving it unresolved

So the silence wasn’t confusion.

It was a decision.

But here’s where it gets difficult.

Your nervous system doesn’t register silence as closure.

It registers it as something incomplete.

So it tries to resolve it:

• replaying conversations

• looking for meaning

• wanting to “just ask” one question

Not because you need clarity—

but because you want relief.

And that’s what most people mistake.

Reaching out feels like:

• control

• understanding

• closure

But it’s not.

It’s temporary relief from the discomfort of not knowing.

That’s why this matters.

This isn’t about what to say.

It’s about recognizing what you’re trying to relieve in that moment.

Because every time you reopen it:

• the loop continues

• the pattern stays active

• and nothing actually changes

Closure doesn’t come from them explaining it better.

It comes from you deciding you’ve already seen enough.

You’re not stuck because you’re confused.

You’re stuck because part of you is still trying to finish something

that already showed you it wouldn’t hold.

And once you see that, the decision changes.

You stop asking:

“what should I say?”

And start asking:

“what am I trying to relieve right now?”

Because the moment you stop trying to close it through them,

the pattern has nowhere to continue.

💬 Do you think closure comes from them—or from deciding you’ve seen enough?

... Read moreHaving personally experienced the pain of being ghosted, I can attest that the hardest part isn’t the event itself but the lingering feeling that something remains unresolved. Often, we find ourselves endlessly replaying conversations or searching for hidden meanings in old messages, hoping for that one moment of clarity to bring peace. However, I learned that this cycle only prolongs the emotional discomfort. The key shift comes when you recognize that silence is actually an answer—not a question left hanging. The other person has chosen not to continue, which means the closure you seek isn’t going to come from them. My journey toward healing began when I stopped reaching out for explanations and instead started asking myself what emotional relief I was really trying to achieve. This awareness allowed me to practice emotional discipline and sit with the discomfort instead of running from it. One practice that helped me immensely was journaling about my feelings in moments when the urge to re-establish contact arose. Writing down my emotions helped me identify underlying patterns, such as wanting control or fearing uncertainty. From there, I consciously decided to accept what had happened and move forward without further explanations. It’s empowering to realize that closure is a self-granted gift—an intentional choice to no longer let the unknown control your peace. If you’re wondering how to start this process, try pausing each time you feel the urge to reach out. Remind yourself that you’ve already seen enough through their actions, or in this case, their silence. Gradually, this practice builds emotional resilience and helps close that loop your nervous system struggles with. Remember, healing is not linear, and it’s okay to have setbacks. But giving yourself permission to close the door on unfinished stories opens you up to new beginnings and authentic growth. You’re not alone in this, and choosing acceptance over ambiguity is a powerful step toward reclaiming your emotional well-being.
