Minecraft Birthday 💚
Party on a budget! I made the cupcakes and got the toppers from #amazon along with party favors (blow up swords and sunglasses) Of course the birthday boy wanted his own cake 😅 #lifewithkids #lemon8challenge #minecraft #birthday
Since so many of you asked about my Minecraft birthday party setup, I wanted to share a few more tips on how I pulled off those awesome DIY decorations without spending a fortune! It really is possible to create an epic celebration that looks professional but is totally budget-friendly. First, for the cupcakes, those green-frosted cupcakes were super simple. I just used store-bought white cake mix and added green food coloring to the frosting. The real magic came from the Minecraft character and item toppers I found on Amazon. They instantly transformed ordinary cupcakes into themed treats! If you're feeling extra crafty, you can also print out small Minecraft pixel art characters, cut them out, and glue them to toothpicks for a truly DIY topper. Don't forget a little "Happy Birthday" sign topper for the birthday boy's special treat – those make a big difference! For the main birthday cake, my son really wanted his own personal cake. I decorated a simple rectangular white birthday cake with blue and light blue frosting to mimic water or sky blocks. Adding Minecraft sword toppers and a few candles made it instantly recognizable. You could also try making a square cake and frosting it to look like a grass block or a dirt block with a TNT block on top! Stencils can be your best friend here if you're not confident in your freehand frosting skills. Just cutting out square shapes from colored construction paper and lightly pressing them onto a frosted cake can create a cool pixelated effect. And the party favors! These were a huge hit and really added to the immersive experience. Besides the pixelated blow-up swords and pixelated sunglasses I mentioned, I also included some fun green Creeper balloons that looked fantastic floating around. You can find these, along with yellow inflatable hammers, online for pretty cheap – just search for 'pixel party favors.' To display them, I used a fun wicker basket for the swords and hammers, and a black pumpkin-shaped bucket to hold the sunglasses, which actually tied into the game's aesthetic perfectly. Presentation really elevates even simple items! Beyond those, think about simple DIY touches for your overall decor. I printed out large pixelated images of Minecraft blocks (grass, stone, dirt, TNT, crafting tables) and taped them to the walls. You can find tons of free printables online, which saves a lot of money on official banners. A simple brown paper tablecloth can be instantly transformed into a 'dirt' or 'crafting table' surface, and you can even draw pixel lines on it with a marker. For centerpieces, I filled clear vases with small square candies or even just green and brown shredded paper to resemble grass and dirt. Don't forget to tie in the food! Square sandwiches cut with cookie cutters, "Creeper Juice" (green Kool-Aid), and "dirt cups" (chocolate pudding with crushed Oreos) are easy and fun. Remember, the key is using simple shapes and pixelated designs to bring the Minecraft world to life on a budget!
