Quiet Time Line-Up

1. Start With Devotion

I like to start with a devotional because it prepares my heart for this intimate time with God. Reading one that both humbles and convicts me, helps prepare my heart to be in His presence. Prepares my heart to speak to Him and hear from His Word.

2. Move To Prayer

Ask the Lord to use this time to grow you closer to Him and to show you what He wants you to know. Include any other prayers that He places on your heart. Don’t rush this.

I Specifically like to use a prayer journal.

For a few reasons..

1. Allows me to focus & my mind not to wander

2 Allows me to see over time God

Answers to my prayers

3. Personally I think better through written word and can accurately lay out my heart before God

3. Read as much as allows you to remember and dwell on what you read.

If you can only focus on a few verses at a time… do that. Study them. Dwell. Repeat them in your head throughout the day. OR read a chapter for a few. Up to you. But make sure you can remember and recall what you read.

No distractions. Be ready and willing for what God intends for this sweet time with Him.

4. Reflection

Reflection allows you to dwell on what you read.

Write it down. Any thought you had.

Any verses that stood out.

Anything you liked or didn't understand, etc...

What can you learn from what you read? Based off of what you read, how should you now live?

5. Lastly, reach for resources

Lastly, after allowing the Lord to speak through His Word to you..

maybe reach for a commentary to help explain the tough.

The hard to understand parts. Comment if you’d like some reccs❤️

... Read moreIn my personal experience, establishing a consistent Quiet Time routine has profoundly shaped my spiritual wellness and daily mindset. Starting with a devotional that humbles and convicts truly sets the tone, inviting you to enter God's presence with an open heart. I have found that the choice of devotional matters; it should resonate with where you are spiritually, encouraging both honesty and growth. Moving into prayer, I strongly recommend keeping a prayer journal. Writing down prayers not only helps keep distractions at bay but also allows you to chart your spiritual journey over time. Witnessing answered prayers in your journal can be incredibly encouraging and reinforces faith in God's timing and plans. When it comes to Bible reading, I follow the advice to read as much as I can thoughtfully remember and meditate on. Whether it's a few verses or a whole chapter, dwelling on the Scripture throughout the day enriches my understanding and helps internalize God’s Word. No matter how busy life gets, creating a quiet environment free from distractions is key to maximizing the impact of this time. Reflection is a vital part of this process. I like to jot down insights, questions, or emotions raised during reading. This deep reflection transforms passive reading into active engagement, leading to actionable changes in how I live and relate to others. Lastly, utilizing external resources such as commentaries or study guides can illuminate difficult passages or complex theological concepts. These resources have helped me bridge gaps in understanding and provided new perspectives on familiar texts. Overall, this structured Quiet Time line-up fosters not just a routine but a deeply personal and transformative encounter with God. I encourage anyone seeking to enhance their spiritual walk to experiment with these steps and tailor them to your unique relationship with God.
