I was walking through Walmart when these Bush’s Grillin’ Beans stopped me in my tracks. I knew they had different baked bean varieties, but I had no idea they had this many grill-inspired flavors.
Here’s everything I found:
• 🌶️ Hot Honey
• 🍖 Southern Pit Barbecue
• 🥩 Steakhouse Recipe
• 🥃 Bourbon & Brown Sugar
• 🍁 Maple & Cured Bacon
I’m not gonna lie… I’m a simple girl when it comes to baked beans. 😂
Give me the original Bush’s Baked Beans and I’m happy.
These flavors sound interesting, but some of them are a little too adventurous for me. I don’t like onions or bell peppers, so the Hot Honey, Southern Pit Barbecue, and Steakhouse Recipe aren’t really calling my name.
The one flavor that actually has me curious is Bourbon & Brown Sugar. Even though I’d probably end up picking the onions out, I think the sweet and savory combination could be really good with grilled chicken, ribs, or steak.
One thing I realized is these are called Grillin’ Beans, so they’re designed more as barbecue side dishes than traditional baked beans. That makes a lot more sense now.
I’ll probably grab the Bourbon & Brown Sugar next time just to see if it’s worth the hype.
Have you tried any of these flavors? If so, which one would you recommend—or should I stick with the original?
... Read moreAs someone who enjoys quick and flavorful sides, I found Bush’s Grillin’ Beans to be a refreshing twist on the classic baked beans. What sets these apart is their bold flavor profiles tailored to complement grilled meats and outdoor cookouts. For example, the Hot Honey variety offers a spicy-sweet punch that livens up any barbecue plate, though it might not suit those sensitive to strong flavors like onions and bell peppers.
The Southern Pit Barbecue flavor captures that smoky, tangy essence typically found in Southern cooking, making it an ideal companion for pulled pork or ribs. While I initially hesitated due to diced onions and peppers, I learned that simmering these beans alongside the meat helps mellow the sharpness, creating a harmonious dish.
The Bourbon & Brown Sugar option intrigued me the most. Combining the sweetness of brown sugar with the deep, rich notes of bourbon, it creates a savory-sweet balance that enhanced grilled chicken breast remarkably well during my last cookout. I often experimented by adding fresh herbs like thyme and a dash of mustard to customize the flavors further.
Maple & Cured Bacon also deserves a mention if you enjoy a sweeter profile with the smoky taste of bacon in your side dishes. It pairs nicely with breakfast or brunch spreads featuring eggs and sausage.
If you prefer a more traditional approach, the original Bush’s Baked Beans remain a reliable favorite — simple, hearty, and satisfying. However, trying these Grillin’ Beans flavors adds excitement and variety to your meal plans, especially for those who love hosting backyard barbecues.
Overall, these beans are a convenient way to elevate your meals without much preparation. Whether you’re a fan of bold, adventurous tastes or prefer sticking to the classics, Bush’s lineup has something for every grill enthusiast.
