Read My Shelves Pt. 24
#emergingcreator Here a DNF, there a DNF, wherever a DNF. But hey it does help me clear up space so I shouldn’t be complaining.

As an avid reader, I've often found that embracing DNFs (Did Not Finish) books has been one of the best decisions to keep my reading experience fresh and enjoyable. Sure, it can be disappointing to set aside a book, but doing so frees up physical shelf space and mental energy to focus on stories that truly resonate with me. Recently, I decided to DNF a couple of titles that weren't holding my interest, including one mysterious and eerie novel whose characters I struggled to connect with. This made way for me to dive deeper into 'House of Salt and Sorrows' by Erin A. Craig, which I was really excited about. 'House of Salt and Sorrows' is an atmospheric, spooky read filled with intricate characters and haunting plotlines. Starting this book felt like entering a new world where the secrets slowly unravel and every chapter pulls you deeper into the mystery. Though I initially had a blank spot on my TBR shelf for this read, I’m glad I prioritized it now. From my experience, when a book grips you emotionally or piques your curiosity, it makes the whole reading experience more rewarding. If you’re participating in a TBR challenge or simply trying to manage your reading list, don’t hesitate to reassess your picks. It's okay not to finish every book. Instead, focus on reading what excites you and what fits into your current mood or interests. Googling more about a book or its characters can also help enhance your engagement, particularly with complex stories. Balancing physical and digital reading also plays a role in how I choose what to read next. Some physical books sit on my shelf longer than digital ones, simply because they feel like a bigger commitment. If you find yourself short on time or losing patience with a physical book, consider switching to an e-version or audiobooks to keep your reading momentum going. Above all, reading should be a pleasure, not a chore. Clearing your shelves, curating a meaningful TBR, and embracing DNFs when necessary can make all the difference in maintaining your love for books.
