Also, consider going early in the morning right when it opens, or later in the afternoon. I found the late afternoon sun cast a beautiful glow on the ancient ruins, making for some stunning photos. Even with a bustling crowd, you can find moments of quiet reflection. Once you're inside, prepare to be amazed. The sheer scale of the Colosseum interior is breathtaking. I loved walking around the different levels, imagining the gladiatorial contests and spectacles that once took place here. One of the highlights for me was seeing the intricate brick ruins of the hypogeum. This underground area, once hidden, reveals the complex network of tunnels and chambers where gladiators and animals waited before their grand entrance.
