How I Clocked 1144 Hours of DEEP WORK!! 🤯

‼️ This app 💯 — was and still is my fav app for deep work & pomodoro sessions. I discovered this app while I was still in uni and swipe to pg 3 to see a screenshot of me at the peak of uni days; where I spent more than 1144hours studying and staying focused. I guess COVID also contributed to the excessive time spent alone at home, be it for school or other personal work.

✨ Name of the App: FOREST 🌱

It’s payable on Apple but it used to be free on Android devices (not sure if it’s still the case). 😶‍🌫️

🕰️ How It Works:

For each session completed, you’ll plant a tree — but you’re not allowed to touch your phone or leave the app, else the plant dies.

So the challenge here is to not touch your phone during the set focused duration until the time is over. There’s also an option to “plant together” with your friends if you’re game for it, and same rule applies. If one of you leaves the app, the plant withers.

‼️THE BEST PART‼️

You get to plant REAL trees (up to 5) through the app too! You can opt to plant real trees through the coins you’ve earned through your focused sessions.

😍 What I Like About This App:

🌱 Gamify Your Work Sessions

🌱 Plant Real Trees

🌱 Actually Motivates Me to Stay Focused

🌱 Do It Together with Friends

🌱 Earn Achievement Badges to Keep You Motivated

🌱 Perfect for New Habit Building

I use this app a lot during my dissertation writing days to help me stay productive and keep away unnecessary distractions.

If you’re looking for something to get you focused and less distracted so you can finally get started on your work? — try this! 🤓

... Read moreWhen I first started using the Forest app, I was amazed at how effectively it kept me focused compared to traditional pomodoro timers. The visual progress of growing a virtual forest made the idea of deep work more engaging and less of a chore. I found that planting trees with friends added accountability — if anyone left the app early, the tree would die, which motivated me not to break concentration. Besides helping me shorten my screen time, the achievements and badges within the app created a rewarding sense of accomplishment. This gamification aspect helped me build a solid habit of sustained focus, even during stressful periods like dissertation writing. For anyone struggling to stay on task, I recommend giving Forest a try. It’s especially helpful if you’re a student or someone juggling multiple projects. Also, the ability to convert app coins into real tree planting is a beautiful bonus that gives your productive time a meaningful impact globally. Additionally, if you’re curious about enhancing your productivity tools, pairing Forest with time management or budgeting apps can streamline your daily routine further, saving minutes and improving efficiency throughout the day. Overall, Forest goes beyond a simple focus app—it’s a community-driven, eco-conscious productivity companion.
