🔥 Tea Temperature Cheat Sheet

Here is the exact temperature formula for every tea type. Screenshot and memorize. 📸

Your Green Tea is bitter because your water is too hot. Fix your temp, fix your tea.#orientalspirit

1/19 Edited to

... Read moreBrewing tea at the correct temperature is a game changer that can drastically improve your tea experience. From personal trials, I found that brewing green tea at high temperatures above 80-85°C (176-185°F) often results in a bitter, astringent taste. Lowering the water temperature to around 70°C (160°F) made my green teas smoother and sweeter. For oolong teas, a medium heat between 80-90°C (175-195°F) helps extract the complex floral and fruity notes without oversteeping. Black and herbal teas benefit from hotter water, ideally between 90-100°C (195-212°F), to fully release their robust flavors. A useful tip is to always use fresh, filtered water and steep the tea just the right time indicated for each variety—not too long to avoid bitterness, not too short to capture the full flavor. Additionally, I recommend keeping a temperature cheat sheet nearby or using a kitchen thermometer while brewing until you’re comfortable with the water temperatures. This practice ensures every cup you brew is balanced and enjoyable. Ultimately, controlling tea temperature is about respecting the delicate nature of the leaves—once you master this, you can truly appreciate the subtle nuances of each tea and elevate your daily tea ritual.
