Good job! is sweet, but sometimes a few extra words can make a BIG difference!

... Read moreFrom my own experience as a parent, I've found that shifting from generic praise like "Good job!" to more specific, effort-focused phrases truly transforms how my toddler perceives success and learning. For example, saying "You worked so hard on that!" not only acknowledges the end result but highlights the importance of persistence, which helps nurture a growth mindset early on. I've also noticed that encouraging problem-solving by saying things like "You figured it out!" fosters creativity and makes my little one feel proud of their own thinking process rather than just the outcome. When challenges arise, a phrase like "I noticed you kept trying!" motivates my child to persevere despite difficulties, building resilience. Another powerful phrase I use is "You did it all by yourself!" which boosts my toddler’s sense of independence and confidence. This kind of specific praise helps children recognize their own capabilities and develops their self-esteem. In daily life, these phrases make a big difference in how my toddler engages with tasks and learning experiences. Instead of relying on a quick "Good job!" which can feel generic and fleeting, meaningful praise rooted in effort and accomplishment creates a supportive environment where my child feels encouraged to explore, try new things, and celebrate progress on their unique journey.
