5 habits that have made my fitness journey EASIER

Let me preface a fitness journey is not going to be EASY ever. But these habits have made my journey more effective.

1️⃣ Scheduling my workouts into my day - trying to fit in the workout will never work. Schedule it.

2️⃣ putting my phone on DND during my workouts. This keeps me focused on the workout and not getting distracted.

3️⃣ recording the weight lifted - this helps me stay accountable week after week and keeps on pace with progressive overload

4️⃣ set out my gym clothes, gym bag, and breakfast items the night before an early AM workout - saves me time & effort, also helps me get out of bed to go in the mornings

5️⃣ got something to remind myself daily of my goals - for example I got a backpack that has a “bikini” patch on it to remind me of my why everytime I go to the gym. You could hang something on your bathroom mirror a picture or a few words that remind you daily of your why.

What are some small habits you’ve started to help you along on this fitness journey? Comment below 👇🏼

... Read moreBuilding strong, defined abs has been a key part of my fitness journey, and those 5 habits I mentioned earlier are absolutely essential for making it happen! It’s not just about looking good in athletic wear; a strong core improves everything from posture to lifting heavier weights in the gym. If you're wondering how to effectively target your abs as a woman, let me share what I've learned and what truly works for me. First off, consistency is queen. Just like scheduling my workouts, I specifically schedule my core sessions. Even if it's just 10-15 minutes, doing it regularly makes a huge difference. I usually tack it onto the end of my main workout, or sometimes I dedicate a short session on an active recovery day. What exercises do I love for abs? I focus on a mix to hit all parts of my core. Planks are non-negotiable – straight planks, side planks, plank with hip dips. They build incredible isometric strength. Then I move to dynamic movements like bicycle crunches, leg raises (hanging or on the mat), and Russian twists (with or without a weight depending on how I feel). I also incorporate anti-rotation exercises like pallof presses. Remember habit #3: recording the weight lifted? This applies to abs too! For weighted Russian twists or stability ball crunches, tracking my reps and weights ensures I'm always progressing. Form over speed is crucial for abs. I always remind myself to really feel the contraction in my core, not just go through the motions. Engaging my core throughout the day, even when I’m just walking or sitting, helps build that mind-muscle connection. It’s amazing how much more effective your ab workouts become when you’re truly focused, which is where putting my phone on DND (habit #2) really helps! No distractions mean I can concentrate on my breathing and contraction. Nutrition plays a massive role in revealing those abs. While I don't follow a super strict diet, I focus on whole foods, adequate protein, and staying hydrated (my shaker bottle is always with me!). You can do all the crunches in the world, but if your nutrition isn't dialed in, you won't see the definition. Finally, connecting back to habit #5, having a 'why' for my abs journey is so motivating. Whether it's to feel stronger, improve my lifts, or just feel confident in my favorite athletic wear, that daily reminder keeps me going. Sometimes, after a particularly sweaty core session, taking a quick mirror selfie isn't just about vanity; it's a way to acknowledge the hard work and track the small changes that keep me motivated. It's a journey, not a race, and these small, consistent efforts are what build a strong, capable core.
