คำถามที่เราเสิร์ชตอนนั้นคือ “แมวเป็น FIP อยู่ได้นานไหม” เพราะพอได้ยินคำว่า FIP ใจมันหล่นวูบเลย จริงๆ ระยะเวลาอยู่ได้นานแค่ไหนขึ้นกับ “ได้เริ่มรักษาเร็วไหม” และ “ร่างกายน้องตอบสนองต่อยาแค่ไหน” มากๆ จากที่บ้านเราเจอ เคสนี้เริ่มจากท้องเสีย (เคยรักษาโคโรนาไวรัส) แล้วกลับมาเป็นซ้ำจนผอมลง ทั้งที่ยังกินเก่ง มีแรงวิ่ง กระโดด สุดท้ายตรวจเลือดแล้วโปรตีนตกหนัก หมอเลยประเมินว่าเข้าทาง FIP แบบแห้ง ในมุมคนเลี้ยง สิ่งที่ช่วยให้ประเมินได้ว่า “จะไปได้นานแค่ไหน” คือดูสัญญาณตอบสนองช่วง 1–2 สัปดาห์แรกหลังเริ่มยา (ไม่ว่ากินหรือฉีด) เช่น ความอยากอาหารกลับมา น้ำหนักเริ่มหยุดลด อึเริ่มเป็นก้อนดีขึ้น ความซึมลดลง และที่สำคัญคือ “ค่าเลือดดีขึ้น” โดยเฉพาะโปรตีน/อัลบูมิน และค่าอักเสบต่างๆ (อันนี้ให้คุณหมอเป็นคนอ่านผลจะชัวร์กว่า) ถ้าช่วงแรกน้องตอบสนองดี โอกาสยื้อ/อยู่ได้นานและกลับมาใช้ชีวิตปกติมีมากขึ้นจริงๆ สิ่งที่เราอยากเติมให้คนที่กำลังลุ้นเหมือนกัน คือการดูแลระหว่างรักษาให้ “ผ่าน 84 วัน” แบบไม่พังกลางทาง 1) โภชนาการกับลำไส้ ตอนน้องท้องเสียหนัก เราใช้อาหารสูตรทางเดินอาหาร (แนวเดียวกับ Royal Canin Gastro) ช่วยลดภาระลำไส้ แต่ถ้าน้องกินได้เยอะแต่ผอมลงเรื่อยๆ ให้รีบแจ้งหมอ เพราะมันอาจไม่ใช่แค่ลำไส้พังธรรมดาแล้ว ระหว่างนี้พยายามให้กินเป็นมื้อเล็กๆ หลายมื้อ และจดว่าแต่ละวันกินได้เท่าไหร่ อึเป็นยังไง 2) แยกกัก + ความสะอาดลดความเครียด บ้านเราแยกน้องออกจากตัวอื่นเลย เพราะตอนท้องเสีย อึฉี่เลอะตัวทุกวัน ทั้งคนทั้งแมวเครียดมาก แนะนำเตรียมแผ่นรองซับ/ผ้าห่มสำรอง เปลี่ยนง่ายๆ ล้างก้น/เช็ดตัวด้วยน้ำอุ่น แล้วซับให้แห้ง ลดผื่นและกลิ่นอับ น้องจะสบายตัวขึ้น 3) กินยา vs ฉีดยา เลือกแบบไหน หมอจะดูความรุนแรงเป็นหลัก ถ้าหนักมากบางเคสเริ่มฉีดก่อนแล้วค่อยสลับมากินได้ ที่บ้านเราเลือก “แบบกิน” เพราะหมอประเมินแล้วไหว และโชคดีไม่มีผลข้างเคียง แต่ไม่ว่าจะทางไหน จุดสำคัญคือ “ห้ามหยุดยาเอง/ห้ามปรับขนาดเอง” และต้องนัดตรวจเลือดตามที่หมอกำหนด 4) เช็กอาการที่ควรรีบกลับไปหาหมอ ซึมลง กินน้อยลงกะทันหัน อาเจียนถี่ ท้องเสียรุนแรง หอบ หรือน้ำหนักดรอปเร็ว ให้รีบติดต่อคลินิกทันที อย่ารอดูเอง สุดท้ายเรื่อง “อยู่ได้นานไหม” สำหรับเรา คำตอบที่ช่วยประคองใจคือ ถ้าเริ่มรักษาได้ไว ติดตามผลเลือดสม่ำเสมอ และน้องตอบสนองดี หลายตัวกลับมาแข็งแรง ใช้ชีวิตได้ยาวๆ เหมือนแมวปกติเลย ตอนนี้เรายังจำภาพลูกแมวสีเทาที่เคยนอนซึมในกรง กับภาพวันที่กลับมานอนหงายสบายใจได้อยู่เลย มันทำให้รู้ว่า 3 เดือนที่ลุ้นทุกวัน มันคุ้มจริงๆ
