Good offering to the Lord
Our offerings to God are best expressed through our obedience to His will. In the biblical narrative, Paul exemplified this by living a sacrificial life despite facing persecution, as seen in Acts 9:15-16, where he was called to serve as a true instrument of God. Leviticus 9 highlights God's specific instructions for sacrifices, where Aaron's adherence to these commands resulted in divine approval. However, in Leviticus 10, we learn about Aaron's sons who disregarded God's directives and faced consequences for their actions. Similarly, the story of Cain and Abel illustrates God's acceptance based on the quality of one's offering. Cain's poor choice was rejected for failing to adhere to righteousness. The implication here emphasizes that our obedience nurtures good fruit, as stated in Galatians 5:22-23, which discusses the fruits of the Spirit. Notably, we are reminded that a lack of obedience can yield negative outcomes, reinforcing that we cannot serve two masters. Sin remains detrimental unless we submit and repent, much like Cain's struggle. To truly serve God, we must heed His commands through the Holy Spirit as captured in Matthew 7:21-23, which reminds us that mere words aren't enough; we must embody His will to enter the kingdom of heaven.
