my life as a singer 🎤
I’m Pychä and I’m a professional studio artist in Atlanta. I’ve been an independent artist (under management with Avid Records since 2020) for my entire career. That means a couple things:
-Sleep doesn’t exist: I just released my 2nd studio album a week ago and this is the first time I’ve been able to come home from work and not go straight into a studio to record! But just because the album is out means nothing 😭 Now I’m scheduled for interviews, I have to host parties, and shoot music videos for some of the songs. This will be my 3rd weekend that I haven’t been able to just stay inside and sleep 😴
-It’s an expensive business: There is a LOT of legal information you have to learn and understand before you can become a recording artist. Most of it lies within royalty distribution and handling director/photographer/studio + engineering/ producer/ management/ & marketing fees! Let’s not forget promos! After paying hundreds to thousands of dollars to create and finish one song, you have to promote it. Or else no one will hear it 😅
-It takes a LONG time to get your flow going: Success definitely won’t happen overnight. If you look at major artists today, you’ll notice that they were making music well before they got discovered or before one of their songs went viral. My first song didn’t even get 100 listeners back in 2016. Now, it takes a couple minutes to get 100 streams on a song. It took 3 years to record and produce the album I just released last week, but the fruit from it has been extremely sweet!
If you have a passion for something, know the ins & outs before you try to pursue it full-time. Make sure it’s something you know you’ll always love doing, even on your most stressful, rainy, bad days!

Most well-known artists spent years honing their crafts before hitting the mainstream. It's a marathon, not a sprint, and that passion for music will carry you through the ups and downs of this demanding career.
