Did anyone see the Smurfs reboot yet?

I was incredibly hyped when news broke about Rihanna stepping into the iconic blue shoes of Smurfette for the new animated Smurfs movie. Not only was she lending her voice, but she's also a producer on the project! It felt like a massive moment, promising a fresh, perhaps edgier, take on the beloved characters we grew up with. Like many, I honestly thought this casting would elevate the entire franchise, bringing it a much-needed modern twist and a touch of that undeniable Rihanna magic. The idea of her unique persona shaping Smurfette's character was so exciting. However, after finally getting to see the film, I couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment, echoing the sentiments I've heard from others. Smurfette has always been a character with a lot of potential for growth and personality, and I was eager to see how Rihanna's portrayal would add new layers. Instead, I felt like the character, and the film as a whole, played it too safe, missing an opportunity to truly innovate and captivate.
