Tips From My Lactation Consultant

Breastfeeding is a top priority for me this time around! I so badly want to have a successful and enjoyable breastfeeding journey.

After leaving the hospital, I found a lactation consultant to give me all of the tips for successful feedings! She gave me tons of helpful info and I was able to see a difference immediately! The biggest thing I learned is that breastfeeding should not hurt but boy was I in pain the first 2 days. I had no idea that my baby’s latch was completely wrong! Thank goodness for lactation experts!!🫶🏼🍼 #lemon8partner #lactationsupport #breastfeedingmoms #breastfeedinghacks #breastfedbaby

... Read moreBreastfeeding can be one of the most rewarding experiences for new mothers, but it often comes with its challenges. Understanding that a proper latch is crucial can significantly impact your breastfeeding experience. When latching, ensure that you support both your breast and your baby's head adequately. Timing is essential; bring your baby to you quickly when they show interest in feeding. If you gently press your thumb into your breast, it helps aim your nipple towards your baby's nose, making it easier for them to latch. It's vital for your baby's chin to touch your breast when they open their mouth wide to feed. Additionally, offering both breasts at each feeding session helps in establishing a good milk supply and ensures your baby receives a balanced diet. If you're feeling discomfort while breastfeeding, it's a signal that the latch may not be correct. Remember, effective pumping can ease discomfort if needed, thus promoting positive breastfeeding experiences. Learning about these techniques from a lactation consultant can be invaluable, offering tailored advice that ensures both mother and baby enjoy a nourishing bond. Don't hesitate to seek professional help to enhance your breastfeeding journey.
