Traveling for 36 hours straight, especially internationally from New York to Udaipur, is definitely a test of endurance and planning. From my experience, one of the key factors to surviving such a journey is staying organized and being prepared for the inevitable delays and layovers. I found that arriving extra early to the airport helps reduce stress—especially when navigating TSA security, which can sometimes slow things down unexpectedly. Bringing along travel-sized skincare products, like Ole Henriksen's Pout Preserve Lip Balm, became my small obsession during the trip, as long flights and changing environments can really dry out your skin. Make sure to keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoid too much caffeine or alcohol, which can worsen jet lag and dehydration. Sleep management is crucial on long haul flights. My sleep tracker showed very little rest on board, but taking short naps and using a neck pillow improved comfort. When faced with a long layover—as I had in Delhi—consider booking a hotel near the airport. This allowed me to rest well and have a proper meal, leaving me refreshed for the next leg of the journey. One unmissable highlight of arriving in Udaipur was experiencing the local hospitality. The Taj Lake Palace hotel welcomed us warmly and even upgraded our suite, making all the travel struggles feel worthwhile. Exploring the city, especially when it’s tied to moments like weddings, adds a special touch to the trip. If you are planning such an extensive travel day, plan plenty of buffer time, keep essentials close, and treat yourself kindly throughout. Remember, long flights can be brutal, but arriving in a beautiful destination like Udaipur, with rich culture and stunning views, makes it all worth it.
