From my own summer internship, I learned that success goes beyond just handling financial models or market analysis — it’s about resilience, networking, and continuous learning. An important piece of advice I’d give to anyone starting their investment banking internship is to be proactive. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or seek feedback. Your mentors and colleagues expect you to be curious and eager to grow. Also, stay organized and manage your time efficiently; the long hours can be demanding but structuring your day helps maintain your well-being. I also want to emphasize the power of community. Many of my peers felt isolated at times due to the high-pressure environment, but connecting with fellow interns or women in investment banking created a supportive network that boosted morale and motivation. Sharing challenges and successes with others made the summer more meaningful. Finally, remember that an internship is a stepping stone. Even if investment banking isn’t your forever career, the skills and insights you gain—like financial literacy, client communication, and problem-solving—are invaluable for any path.
