3 must stops when your in OKC for Free
1st stop: Wheeler Ferris Wheel at Wheeler District it’s a free park where you can picnic, Ride a Ferris wheel, or walk along the river. It’s such a relaxing vibe and truly enjoyed it! There is the OKC sign that you can take a photo and make memories! I will say you do pay for the ride at the ferris wheel!
2nd stop: Myriad Botanical Gardens now you can check out there botanical garden or just walk along the park and get this feet moving! Such a cute trail where you may spot fishes or butterflies 🦋 and it was worth seeing it along the trail!
3rd stop: Lake Hefner I have to save the best for last! Because the view of the sunset, spotting butterflies and just a serene vibe. There is also a restaurant that you could dine and watch the view with a sunset! 🌅 Louie's Grill & Bar I should have gave them a try have y’all been there? And is the food good? Because it smelled delicious! 🤤

Hey everyone! I wanted to dive a little deeper into one of my absolute favorite finds in Oklahoma City, especially since so many of you are looking for info on the Wheeler Ferris Wheel. It's more than just a ride; it’s an entire vibe and a fantastic spot to spend a few hours, or even a whole afternoon! First off, let's talk about the Wheeler Ferris Wheel at Wheeler District. When I first heard about it, I thought it was just the Ferris wheel, but it's so much more. The entire area is a beautifully maintained free park, perfect for anyone looking to unwind by a body of water. I love how you can just bring a blanket, find a cozy spot, and have a picnic with the city skyline as your backdrop. I even spotted a white hammock that looked incredibly inviting – definitely on my list for my next visit! One of the biggest draws for me (and probably for you, too!) is the iconic OKC sign. It’s massive and totally Instagram-worthy! It's such a popular photo spot, and I saw so many people getting creative with their poses. Whether you're solo or with friends, you'll definitely want to snap a few pictures here to remember your trip. The Ferris Wheel itself makes for an amazing background in your photos, too. Now, about the Ferris wheel ride itself. While the park is free to enter and enjoy, the ride on the Wheeler Ferris Wheel does have a cost, but it's totally worth it for the views! You get a bird's-eye perspective of the city and the Arkansas River, which is especially stunning during sunset. Even if you don't ride, just watching it turn against the bright blue sky, as seen in some of my pics, is quite mesmerizing. Beyond the photos and picnics, I really enjoyed just walking along the riverfront. It’s such a relaxing experience, and a great way to stretch your legs. The atmosphere is so peaceful, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. I’d recommend going in the late afternoon to catch the golden hour light – it makes everything look even more magical. Parking is usually pretty easy to find nearby, which is always a bonus when exploring a new city. Make sure to wear comfy shoes and bring your camera, you won’t want to miss capturing all the beauty here!
