๐Ÿ›‘Top 5 Things Not to Do While Driving๐ŸŽ

There's a much longer list of things you shouldn't do while you drive not only for your safety but for the innocent people around you just trying to stay alive.

1. Do not absolutely DO NOT text and drive

This is number 1 on my list because it's the most commonly violated, we think we'll just send a short text back, and it'll be fine. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Gamble with your snacks, NOT your life ๐Ÿ’ฏ

2. Do not Look Away From the road while you are driving for a long time

What i mean by this 3 seconds, the same amount of time it takes to check all your mirrors, at 60 MPH you Travel about 263 feet in those 3 seconds, That's plenty of time for something to happen, Longer than that? Is almost asking for a problem. Keep your eyes on the road.๐Ÿ‘€

3. Never steer with your Knees/Legs

it's possible to do it for very short distances. However, it's still very unsafe and shouldn't be practiced๐Ÿ›‘

4. Don't forget your seatbelt

I was Recently in a horrible Car accident with my Fiancรฉ caroline ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ and Our seatbelts were genuinely the only thing that saved our lives, i have been guilty of this in the past for " short trips" like my accident was a 5 minute trip to get food. Always wear that seatbelt ๐Ÿ‘Œ

5. Do Not Waste your Time and Everyone Else's Staring at Accidents.

This is probably the most annoying thing on the list ๐Ÿ™„. Someone being infront of however many people slowly easing by an accident with your neck planted as far as it can go to any direction, accelerating as slowly as possible is the single most annoying thing someone can do on the road. Actually, this one might just be my opinion.... Do with it what you will๐Ÿ‘

Is there anything that particularly bugs/annoys you about other drivers on the road? Let me know in the comments. Thank you for coming to my safety Ted talk๐Ÿ˜‚

... Read moreIt's so easy to get complacent behind the wheel, isn't it? We all think 'it won't happen to me' until it almost does. Beyond the everyday distractions and bad habits, there's a whole layer of unspoken rules and smart practices that can truly make or break your safety on the road. Thinking about what truly jeopardizes our well-being when we're driving, it's not just the obvious texting or forgetting a seatbelt โ€“ though those are huge! It's often the cumulative effect of small neglects. One area I've personally seen lead to trouble is underestimating the power of traffic signals and road signs. They're not just suggestions; they're critical safety warnings designed to prevent chaos. Disregarding a simple red light or a 'stop' sign, even for a split second, can lead to devastating consequences โ€“ from serious collisions and injuries to legal battles and skyrocketing insurance premiums. It's a stark reminder that every traffic rule is there for a reason, protecting not just us but everyone else on the road. Beyond these obvious rules, I've picked up a few more habits that have truly enhanced my driving safety. Firstly, defensive driving is key. Always assume other drivers might make a mistake and be prepared to react. This means keeping a safe following distance, constantly scanning your surroundings, and being aware of potential hazards long before they become immediate threats. I've found that anticipating potential issues, like a car suddenly braking or changing lanes without signaling, has saved me from countless close calls. Secondly, vehicle maintenance is a silent hero. It's easy to overlook, but regularly checking your tires, brakes, lights, and fluid levels is a critical part of safe driving. A worn-out tire can blow out at high speeds, and faulty brakes can mean the difference between a stop and an accident. These are simple checks that give you so much peace of mind and are vital safety warnings from your car itself. Lastly, patience and avoiding aggressive driving are game-changers. Road rage benefits no one. Getting frustrated by slow traffic or other drivers' errors only increases your own risk. I've learned that taking a deep breath and giving yourself extra time for journeys drastically reduces stress and the temptation to drive aggressively. It truly shifts your mindset from 'getting there fast' to 'getting there safely.' So, while we all know the 'top 5 things not to do while driving,' embracing a broader mindset of constant vigilance, respect for traffic rules, and proactive maintenance can turn every trip into a safer journey. Stay alert, stay patient, and keep those eyes on the road!
