Fever Dream by Elsie Silver (Cowboy Romance)

Such a cute book! The premise of the book made me think of The Final Rose by Amy Oliveira which was also a cute read. I enjoyed the setting of Emerald Lakes and the ranch, I can't wait to see more as this series comes out. I really enjoyed both Emmett and Julia's characters and their banter together. I loved Emmett's grandparents they were so cute and funny, hoping to see more of them in the rest of the series. I really hope that my the time the next book comes out I will be more caught up or completely caught up with Elsie Silver's backlog.

"I guess the reason I haven’t been out with anyone else is because none of them are you."

"I was in your shoes once.” He shoots a rare soft look at Oma. “Hard and spiny on the outside, until your oma came along and cracked me open like a fucking crab leg.” I snort. “Poetic,” I reply, only to look at Oma and see her smiling back at him."

"It’s a rule of mine not to take advice from men who drive Cybertrucks."

The setting of Emerald Lakes is more than just a backdrop; it’s almost a character itself, replete with the rustic charm of ranch life and tight-knit community spirit. What stood out most to me was the authentic portrayal of Emmett and Julia's relationship. Their witty exchanges and slow-burning attraction kept me hooked throughout the story. The dynamic between Emmett and his grandparents added layers of humor and tenderness, enriching the narrative beyond just the romantic arc. It reminded me how family ties and small-town connections shape the lives and choices of the characters. The themes of forbidden romance and forced proximity are classic tropes executed beautifully here, creating tension without feeling cliché. I appreciated how the story allowed for emotional growth, especially with the insightful dialogues like “I guess the reason I haven’t been out with anyone else is because none of them are you,” which captures the vulnerability and longing that many experience in real relationships. For those who enjoy a slow-burn romance with a genuine sense of place and relatable characters, Fever Dream offers a satisfying read. It also makes you eager to dive into Elsie Silver’s backlog and follow the rest of the series as it unfolds. If you love stories with humor, heartfelt moments, and a touch of cowboy grit—this book is definitely worth picking up.
