a guide to lecture recordings: hybrid learning

For all my fellow students who have the option of hybrid learning, this is your guide to maximizing your lecture recordings. This is how I make the most of the luxury that is recorded lectures!

🎧 Watch the lecture live - I have the choice of going in person or watching on Zoom or WebEx, but when I watch it as it’s happening, I stay more focused. Of course, this is pending on the attendance policy of the class, but I have

🎧 Take as many notes as possible, but only as much as you can. I like to type down the things that the lecturer says that aren’t found in the slides provided. When I revise, this gives me a better understanding of the bigger picture.

🎧 Here’s the key to taking notes down in lecture–WRITE WHEN YOU STOP PAYING ATTENTION OR DON’T UNDERSTAND. This is so important because when you go to revise your notes, you can spend more time on these parts, rewatch them, and gain a better understanding.

good luck this semester! ✧*̥˚

... Read moreAs hybrid learning becomes more popular, leveraging recorded lectures can significantly enhance the overall learning process. To make the most out of your lecture recordings, start by actively participating in live sessions. Watching lectures in real-time not only keeps you engaged but also allows for questions and immediate clarifications, enhancing your grasp of the material. It's equally important to concentrate on taking comprehensive notes. Focus on jotting down points that the lecturer mentions but are not included in the slides. This will help you retain more information and prepare for future revisions effectively. A crucial strategy to improve your study habits is to identify when your attention wanes during lectures. Write down these moments in your notes; this will signal to you which sections you need to review later. By rewatching these specific parts, you can address any misunderstandings and solidify your knowledge of complex topics. Additionally, consider grouping your notes by themes or subjects for better organization and easier revisiting. Remember that with the flexibility of hybrid learning, each student can tailor their study approach to what fits best for their learning style. Embrace these tips and set yourself up for a successful semester!
