Not everything is about red flags 🚩 sometimes, the most powerful part of our work is spotting the green flags 🌱. These are the signs that healing is happening and growth is taking root:

✅ They show up consistently, even when it’s hard.

✅ They’re more open about their feelings and experiences.

✅ They set small, realistic goals for themselves.

✅ They use coping strategies on their own.

✅ They begin to advocate for their needs in healthy ways.

Every small step forward is a big win. As social workers, celebrating these green flags keeps us grounded in hope and reminds our clients how far they’ve come. 💚

When clients express their feelings more openly over time, it shows increased trust and emotional safety within the therapeutic relationship. This openness enables deeper work and understanding. Setting small, realistic goals empowers clients by creating achievable steps, preventing overwhelm, and reinforcing a sense of accomplishment. Furthermore, clients independently employing coping strategies learned in sessions demonstrates increased self-efficacy, an essential component of lasting change. Healthy self-advocacy skills enable clients to communicate needs effectively in various environments, enhancing their autonomy and support networks.
