It’s simply.. an option
From personal experience, realizing that people-pleasing is a learned behavior was a turning point in my life. For years, I tried to satisfy everyone around me, which often left me feeling drained and invisible. What I learned is that this pattern, while socially reinforced, rarely benefits the person caught in it. The key is understanding that taking your power back is not about being selfish but about self-preservation and authenticity. I remember a moment when I simply ran out of patience and refused to engage in unproductive conflicts or accept others dictating my emotions. It felt like breaking free from an invisible chain. Of course, the journey has its ups and downs; confusion and illusions about what others expect from us can be hard to navigate. But setting boundaries and choosing when to disengage from exhausting scenarios is crucial. In the middle of this transformation, I often found myself rejecting the need to validate others' storylines that didn't align with my truth. This was difficult but liberating. Boundaries are like personal Kryptonite to manipulative situations—they protect your soul and space. If you’re somewhere in the middle of this struggle too, know that it’s okay to take small steps each day. You don’t have to hit the reset button overnight. Gradually, you’ll find places and people that feel like home, where your energy is respected and reciprocated. Remember, human interactions thrive on mutual respect, and reclaiming your voice and power enhances your well-being. People-pleasing might have been an option before, but today, choosing your peace and power is an empowered choice worth making.
