Feeling constantly misunderstood isn’t normal… We live in a cult-like society that down plays the importance of removing anyone from around you that can’t accept your genuine self.

8/15 Edited to

... Read moreI've personally experienced what it feels like to constantly be misunderstood, and it can be incredibly isolating and draining. Over time, I realized that trying to please everyone only drained my energy and compromised who I truly am. One of the most liberating steps I've taken was learning to recognize when certain relationships were toxic or unaccepting toward my authentic self. In today's world, it often feels like society pressures us to conform and suppress our individuality. This can feel almost cult-like in how it enforces certain norms and judgments. By choosing to distance yourself from people who don’t appreciate or accept the real you, you reclaim your mental space and emotional health. It’s not an easy decision, especially if those people are close acquaintances or even family. However, the peace and clarity that come from being surrounded by those who respect your true self are invaluable. For anyone struggling with these feelings, I recommend setting firm boundaries and seeking communities that celebrate authenticity. Whether it’s through online groups, therapy, or genuine friendships, finding people who value you as you are can make all the difference. Remember, your genuine self deserves to be seen and accepted, and protecting that is essential for your overall well-being.
