Throne of glass review!!

Rating 3.5/5 ⭐️

This book follows the beginning of assassin Celeana Sardothian’s journey to becoming the kings champion. While the plot is amazing and the characters are to die for, I feel like the fmc’s assassin personality was short-lived, and she softened up way faster than I would’ve in her place. Though I can’t say much since it’s only the first book. Still a great book and would recommend! #fantasybookreview #throne of glass series #throneofglass

... Read moreAfter diving into the first 'Throne of Glass' book and sharing my initial thoughts, I know many of you, like me, might be wondering: what's the best way to read the entire series by Sarah J. Maas? It can be a bit confusing with the prequel novella, *The Assassin's Blade*, sometimes read before, sometimes after, or even mid-series. I've tried a few approaches, and here’s what I’ve found to be the most satisfying Throne of Glass reading order for a truly immersive fantasy experience. First, I highly recommend starting with The Assassin's Blade. While it’s a collection of novellas set before *Throne of Glass*, reading it first gives such crucial backstory and character depth, especially for Celaena. It makes her motivations and past experiences in the main series so much richer. If you skip it, you might miss some emotional impact later on. Then, you smoothly transition into Throne of Glass itself, which is where her journey to become the king's champion truly begins. Following that, the order flows quite naturally: The Assassin's Blade Throne of Glass Crown of Midnight Heir of Fire Queen of Shadows Empire of Storms (This is where it gets interesting! You should ideally read Tower of Dawn concurrently with this one, or immediately after, as they happen at the same time with different POVs. Some brave souls even read them chapter by chapter!) Tower of Dawn Kingdom of Ash Beyond just the order, exploring the Throne of Glass series truly showcases what makes Sarah J. Maas such a powerhouse in fantasy. Her ability to craft intricate worlds, develop complex characters, and weave together epic plots is just incredible. For me, her writing often features strong female leads who grow immensely, high-stakes political intrigue, and, of course, captivating romance. It's not just about the action; it's about the emotional journey and the found family themes that resonate deeply. While I noted in my review of the first book that Celaena seemed to 'soften' quicker than expected, I've come to realize through the subsequent books that this evolution is part of Sarah J. Maas's genius. It’s not just softening; it’s growth, vulnerability, and gaining new strengths that make her an even more compelling character as the series progresses. Expect massive character arcs and world-building that just keeps expanding! If you're considering diving into this epic fantasy series, I highly recommend it. Just be prepared for a long, emotional, and absolutely rewarding ride. Sarah J. Maas truly knows how to deliver a captivating story that will stay with you long after the final page.
