tips for scheduling your classes 💜

I think scheduling classes can be so stressful because every semester matters towards getting your degree and you want to set yourself up for success. The biggest challenge I had at first was signing up for too much then overwhelming myself a couple weeks in. I have learned since then, and here are my tips for the process.

★ checking the course syllabus or course page to get an idea of how strenuous it will be. This isn't always perfect, but it at least will let me know how spread out the work will be and how much freedom I have in when to do the work based on the assignment structure.

★ making sure I do not sign up for too much, so that I have time throughout the semester to do things that I love. It is so important to remember your life activities outside of classes when planning your schedule.

★ checking your degree requirements are key. First because you need to make sure the courses are going to fit into the requirements, and that you are achieving everything you need to. Second, to sketch out when you are going to do all these requirements in your time at university, and that you will not be cramming your last year.

... Read moreScheduling classes can indeed feel overwhelming, but with the right strategies, you can create a balanced and effective class schedule. First, always check the course pages or syllabuses to gauge the workload associated with each course. Understanding the assignment structure and reading requirements will help you predict how much time you'll need to dedicate outside of class and the flexibility you might have in managing your time. Next, remember to prioritize your well-being by ensuring that you don’t overload yourself with too many classes. It’s crucial to have time for other activities you enjoy outside of your academic responsibilities. This balance can improve your productivity and overall college experience. Lastly, keep your degree requirements in mind. Mapping out the courses you need allows you to create a roadmap for your semesters. It helps prevent last-minute cramming during your final terms and gives you a clearer picture of what your schedule should look like in the upcoming semesters. Don't forget to leave some flexibility in your plan to adjust as necessary.
