STARTING OVER…AGAIN | 2025 FITNESS JOURNEY
Well here I am for the millionth time starting over. Not gonna lie this photo really messed with my head. Just seeing how far I’ve gotten from where I was just two years ago made me want to cry. What’s crazy is that I don’t even eat a lot, I still get regular exercise, and I eat 85% of my meals at home but I was still gaining weight. I didn’t realize I was gaining weight because of my mental health. Depression, anxiety, and stress really can weigh you down LITERALLY. But I’m determined to change it all around by not only continuing my fitness journey but now including a mental health journey so support my fitness journey.
I know a lot of you can relate it’s been hard lately with inflation, not being able to afford things, wanting a change in your life, relationship problems, losing friends, but just trust that there is a pot of gold on the other side of that tunnel and it’s called peace.
It's interesting how many of us are looking at 'fitness trends 2025' and often expect to find new workout gadgets, superfoods, or extreme diets. But what if the most impactful trend for the upcoming year is something much more fundamental and personal? I've personally found that the true game-changer in any fitness endeavor isn’t just about physical exertion or restrictive eating; it’s about the profound connection between our mental health and our physical well-being. When I first started my fitness journey, like many, I thought it was just about the gym and what I ate. But the truth, as I've come to realize, is so much deeper. The OCR text, 'mental health was the reason I gained so much weight,' really resonated with me. It’s not just about calories in, calories out. Stress, anxiety, and even unrecognized depression can profoundly impact our bodies. Many of us hear that 'stress can make you gain weight,' but it often feels abstract until you experience it firsthand. Chronic stress elevates cortisol, which can lead to increased fat storage, especially around the midsection. It also messes with sleep and appetite regulation, making healthy choices much harder. For 2025, one of the most powerful 'fitness trends' I'm seeing and adopting myself isn't about a new workout gadget or diet. It’s about a holistic approach, where mental wellness isn't just an add-on, but a foundational pillar of physical health. It's truly a 'new journey' for many of us. So, how can we incorporate this? For me, it started with acknowledging the problem, just like the OCR mentioned, 'I didn't realize it until today.' Then, integrating mindfulness: short meditation sessions, journaling about feelings (especially around food or exercise), or simply taking five minutes to breathe deeply before a meal or workout. These aren't just 'fluffy' activities; they connect your mind to your body, helping you understand your hunger cues better and reduce emotional eating. Another aspect is re-evaluating what 'exercise' means. Sometimes, intense gym sessions can add to stress if your body is already overwhelmed. Gentle movement like yoga, walking in nature, or even dancing can be incredibly beneficial for both physical and mental well-being. It helps to 'love yourself' through movement, rather than punishing your body. This mental health-focused approach to fitness also involves setting realistic goals and celebrating small wins. It’s about building resilience, developing coping mechanisms for life's inevitable stressors, and fostering a positive self-image. The goal isn't just a number on the scale, but genuine peace and enduring health. It's about empowering yourself to 'make a change' that truly lasts, inspiring not just yourself but potentially others too, as the OCR suggests. So, if you're looking at 'fitness trends 2025,' consider this: the most impactful change might just be within your own mind. Prioritizing your mental health isn't just trendy; it's essential for a truly successful and sustainable fitness journey that will help you find balance and lasting happiness.
