I recently had the sweetest time preparing for my little one's 1-month celebration, and I just had to share one of my favorite DIY projects: a beautiful paper garland! It’s incredible how much joy a few simple paper decoration items can bring, and it truly makes the occasion feel extra special without breaking the bank. When it comes to 1 month baby decorations, I find that handmade touches add so much warmth and personality. Paper garlands are perfect because they’re budget-friendly, highly customizable, and super safe for a baby's environment. Plus, the process of making them is a lovely way to channel your excitement! Want to make your own? Here’s a simple guide to create a charming paper garland: What you'll need: Assorted colored cardstock or craft paper (think soft pastels, blues, pinks, or gender-neutral yellows and greens!) Scissors or a craft punch (circle, star, or heart shapes work wonderfully) A needle or small hole punch Twine, string, or thin ribbon Craft glue or double-sided tape Let's get crafting! Choose your shapes: Decide on the shapes you want for your garland. Circles are classic and easy, but stars, hearts, or even tiny onesies cutouts are adorable for a baby theme. If you have a craft punch, this step is a breeze! Otherwise, trace and cut out your shapes. I usually make them about 2-3 inches in diameter. Cut, cut, cut: Cut out plenty of shapes! The more you have, the fuller your garland will look. You can mix and match colors and even patterns for extra flair. Prepare for stringing: Use a needle or a small hole punch to create two holes at the top of each shape, about half an inch apart. Alternatively, you can fold the tops of your shapes over your string and glue them down for a seamless look. String 'em up: Thread your shapes onto the twine or string. Decide on the spacing you like – I prefer them fairly close together for a lush look, maybe an inch or two apart. You can also alternate shapes and colors. Secure and hang: Once all your shapes are strung, tie a loop at each end of the garland for easy hanging. Drape it across a wall, above the crib (out of reach, of course!), or as a backdrop for cute baby photos. Beyond the garland, there are so many other fantastic paper decoration items you can create for your 1-month baby celebration. I love making paper rosettes or pinwheels to scatter on a table or attach to a backdrop. A simple "Happy 1 Month" banner made from cut-out paper letters is another classic. You can even craft small paper lanterns or decorative mobiles. The key is to pick a color scheme and theme that resonates with you and your baby's nursery. Making these decorations by hand adds such a personal touch to your baby's first big milestone. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate and create lasting memories.
