Hungry. Tired. Emotionally Attached to food.

POV: You opened the pantry for one snack..and accidentally started a full-course emotional support session

7/8 Edited to

... Read moreHave you ever found yourself reaching for a snack, only to realize you’re not just hungry but emotionally overwhelmed? It’s a common experience that many of us face, especially when we’re tired or stressed. When I open my pantry intending to grab a simple bite, it often turns into a moment of emotional reflection—sometimes even a full emotional support session with myself. Being hungry and tired greatly impacts how we connect with food. Hunger signals our body needs nourishment, but when fatigue sets in, our brain craves comfort, making food a source of emotional relief rather than just energy. This combination can deepen our emotional attachment to food, turning a simple snack into an opportunity to soothe feelings like loneliness, stress, or sadness. One strategy I’ve found helpful is to pause for a moment before eating. I ask myself if I’m truly hungry or if I’m seeking comfort. Sometimes, a glass of water or a short walk helps me address emotional needs without unnecessary snacking. When I do eat, I choose options that nourish both my body and mind, aiming to balance satisfaction and health. It’s also important to recognize that emotional eating isn’t about willpower or weakness; it’s a natural human response. By being kind to ourselves and understanding why we turn to food, we can develop a healthier relationship with eating. Sharing these experiences makes it easier to feel connected and less alone in those moments of vulnerability. If you find yourself emotionally attached to food, try journaling your feelings when you reach for a snack. Over time, this can reveal patterns and triggers that help you respond more mindfully. Remember, it’s okay to seek comfort, but nurturing emotional well-being through various means supports long-term balance.

The title slide for a post about stopping overeating, stating, "I COULDN'T STOP Eating... UNTIL I LEARNED THIS." It highlights how to stop eating out of emotion, not hunger, with a call to "SWIPE TO LEARN MORE." The background shows a desk with a plant and an open book.
This slide explains that overeating is often the brain seeking comfort, escape, stimulation, or control, not hunger. It emphasizes identifying the 'why' behind eating and notes that external cues can trigger eating without hunger. The title is "What Overeating Really is."
Titled "Emotional Eating Triggers," this slide lists signs like eating when bored/sad/anxious, feeling guilty, lacking physical hunger, and continuing to eat when full. It explains emotional eating as a learned coping mechanism, not a willpower failure, driven by emotional triggers.

Don’t make him an Idol✨
An idol is not always a statue sometimes it is a person you have given too much power. If a man has more control over your peace than God, it may not be love it may be idolatry. Wisdom asks hard questions. Healing requires honest answers. “You shall have no other gods before Me.” Exodus 20:3

What is intuitive eating? & does it work
I’ve been intuitive for the last 4 years. Minus a short 5 month period 2 years ago I LOVE intuitive eating & truly believe that it should be the end goal. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to track my macros for the rest of my life & I don’t want my clients to have to either.
