Selling clothes!

#Lemon8Diary #lemon8diarychallenge

A lot of people have asked about my clothes recently on other apps! Here’s where you can buy and sell your own!!

This post is more a double feature (where to find my clothes and where to sell yours)

To sell Clothes I use Poshmark and Curtsy. Here’s a review:

Poshmark:

I have been scammed once by an account user. you do get more views on your clothes than curtsy. And items will sell quickly. The only problems I have is the scams are wild and easy to find. Another problem would be the system with which you post with takes forever trying to figure out what to put on your post. And they have to review it before you post. That could take hours after you finish it.

Curtsy:

Easy to post on; no scams, low view age unless it’s LULU lemon or another expensive brand. The posting system is amazing I finished item posting in 30 minutes for 25 items. Very good!

I highly recommend selling your clothes if you don’t use them anymore! I love earning my money back!

... Read moreOkay, so you've heard about my initial thoughts on Poshmark and Curtsy, but let's really dive into making the most out of selling your clothes online! It's such a great way to declutter your closet and put some extra cash in your pocket. Speaking from personal experience, there's nothing quite like turning something you no longer wear, like that old Old Navy hoodie, into a little bit of spending money. When it comes to Poshmark, I've spent a good amount of time listing items. While the initial setup for a listing can feel a bit detailed, requiring multiple photos, a thorough description, and selecting various categories, it's worth the effort. Clear, bright photos are your best friend here – seriously, good lighting makes a huge difference! I always try to include photos of the item being worn (if appropriate), flat lays, and close-ups of any details or flaws. Being transparent in your descriptions about sizing, material, and condition helps a lot. Poshmark is known for its social aspect, with "Posh Parties" where you can share your listings to interested buyers. Engaging with these parties and sharing other people's items can actually boost your own visibility. Shipping is straightforward; once an item sells, Poshmark provides a pre-paid, pre-addressed label, usually for USPS Priority Mail. You just need to package it nicely. Now, about fees – Poshmark takes a flat $2.95 commission for sales under $15, and 20% for sales $15 or more. It’s a bit higher than some, but their platform handles a lot, including payment processing and buyer protection. To avoid scams, always keep communication and transactions strictly within the app. Curtsy, on the other hand, truly shines for its super easy listing process. I mentioned I listed 25 items in 30 minutes, and that wasn't an exaggeration! It's incredibly user-friendly, which is perfect if you're just starting out or short on time. While it might get fewer views unless you're selling popular brands like Lululemon, there are still ways to get your items noticed. Refreshing your listings regularly and sharing them on social media (if you're comfortable) can help. Curtsy also provides shipping labels, making that part of the process hassle-free. Their fee structure is similar to Poshmark's, usually around 20% commission on sales, which is pretty standard for these types of marketplaces. I've found their community to be very positive, and I haven't encountered any issues with scams there, which is a huge plus for peace of mind. But what if Poshmark or Curtsy isn't quite right for you, or you want to broaden your selling horizons? There are definitely other fantastic apps out there like Poshmark! Depop: If you have a more unique, vintage, or streetwear style, Depop might be your ultimate go-to. It has a younger, very fashion-forward community. The interface is more like Instagram, focusing heavily on photos and aesthetics. Their fees are typically 10% of the item's selling price, plus PayPal or Depop Payments fees. Mercari: This platform is incredibly versatile – you can sell almost anything, not just clothes! It's got a slightly different vibe, perhaps less fashion-focused than Poshmark or Depop, but it reaches a huge audience. Mercari's selling fees are generally 10% of the sale price, plus payment processing fees. It's a great option if you're also looking to clear out other household items. ThredUp/Fashionphile (Consignment): If you'd rather not deal with individual sales at all, consignment services are an option. You send them your clothes, and they do all the work – listing, selling, and shipping. The payout is usually lower, but it’s a hands-off approach for those who are super busy. No matter which platform you choose, a few universal tips will help you succeed: Be Honest: Always disclose any flaws, no matter how small. Be Responsive: Answer buyer questions promptly. Price Smart: Research what similar items are selling for. Don't overprice, but also don't undervalue your items. Ship Quickly: Buyers appreciate fast shipping! Clean Your Items: Always send clean, well-maintained clothing. Selling clothes online has been a rewarding experience for me, both for my wallet and for decluttering. It's all about finding the right platform and putting in a little effort to make your listings shine!

Depop is great for selling clothes to younger people, I make better money on poshmark but it’s a more mature audience. Good for shoes. I also strongly recommend trying eBay because it has such a broad audience
