van gogh exhibition 🌌
📝 while i understand this exhibition is long gone, i’d like to document my long overdue experience
having studied arts in sec sch, u’ll 𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐘 know van gogh & his artworks. it has always intrigued me on how cool it’d be to 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. so when this exhibition came to SG, i was 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐃 & so excited to go. i even told my bf that i really wanted to go LOL so…he surprised me to a visit to van gogh exhibition during my birthday he even got us the VIP tickets 𝐈𝐌 𝐁𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐃 🫶🏻
upon entering the exhibition, the first phase consists of his self-portraits & i was so pumped to see what’s coming next!! the next room was filled with his artworks—starry night, sunflowers, café terrace at night & more sunflowers 🌻
the staff also ushered us to the 3D/VR experience before it closes soon (𝑎𝑙𝑠𝑜 𝑏𝑐 𝑤𝑒 𝑔𝑜𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 2𝑛𝑑 𝑙𝑎𝑠𝑡 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒𝑠𝑙𝑜𝑡) so we quickly headed over before the chance is gone 🏃🏻♀️ & 𝐖𝐎𝐖 i gotta say that was the best experience i’ve ever had in an exhibition. it felt so surreal, like i’m 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 taking a stroll in the paintings—achievement unlocked 🔓✅
afterwards, we got greeted by a room where it had a life size installation of “𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀”. the perspective was almost like the painting & we could even sit on the bed/chairs. it was really cool 🤩
my 2nd favourite part would be the “𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲” of projected mapping on the walls of the paintings element. we could sit down, chill & took a breather (𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑟𝑙𝑦) before the staffs were rushing us out bc they’re closing soon…LOL i was so upset that we couldn’t catch the “𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁” work on the wall 💔
i really enjoyed the experience despite being rushed in some areas, but also understandable as it was close to closing timing. but if the exhibition ever make a comeback again in SG, i’ll definitely go again!!! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
