confession: i ditch film for digital 🎞️💔
𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗶𝗰—𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 ☆ 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗶𝗰—𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗺
contrary to my prev post...
with the rising costs of shooting on film due to demand > supply…i found myself shooting lesser 🥹 i started out in 2019 & mostly stop in late 2023. ever since i got into film photography, it’s something i enjoy doing especially when i’m out. i even used it as medium for my year 1 poly project 📸 however…it doesn’t really feel the same anymore
💡 one day, i was out with a friend when she intro her digicam to me & i found it pretty cool that these items are reviving (𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛 𝑓𝑖𝑙𝑚) she told me she got really lucky as the one she got was dirt cheap from the seller
i went on a research to find a digicam that suited me, i just really wanted a simple one & also started to browse for SG’s sources. then i realized that there’s actually no cheap option, with the cheapest being in the high 100s. after being defeated by the price, that’s when i found [DIGIJOY.SG](http://DIGIJOY.SG) 🥰 she does drops almost everyday with a range of different cameras & the sweetest seller ever!! 🫶🏻 my first camera was DV150F & i realized it’s just not it as i really wanted PL120 (𝑑𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑠𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑒𝑛𝑠) apart from [digijoy](http://digijoy.sg) i actually found other SG sources as well, but i feel that digijoy service really compels me to buy from her 🤪💸
i got my PL120 for $235 & this price definitely tracks 𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐅𝐀𝐑 𝐎𝐅𝐅 from my initial budget but i’m glad i purchased it & having it being used almost every outing/dates 👍🏻 good investment (LMAO)
i’ve sticked with digital shooting ever since early oct’23 & i am still shooting digitally. the last time i shot on film was in japan—may’23 🇯🇵 tho i miss shooting on film, want to support the uncles & aunties as much as i want to, i absolutely 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝘆 & 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘀…it leaves such a big hole in my pocket 😮💨 film cameras are definitely cheap at the start, but it does not last in the long run. whereas for digital cameras are high costs at first, but it lasts for as long as it possibly can 🏃🏻♀️
i definitely feel that digital is an alternative for film shooting as it stills gives off the “grainy” texture look to it. 𝒅𝒐 𝒊 𝒓𝒆𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒕 𝒊𝒕? 𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 but i enjoyed shooting on digital now! i’d most probably return to film for a special occasion. until then, bye film 👋🏻

Whether you lean towards digital for efficiency or film for sentimentality, the beauty of photography remains paramount.
