Let there be light
"Good Morning!"
My SOAPS Devotional for today...
The Scripture:
"Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light." — Genesis 1:3
The Observation:
Notice that the gap between God’s decree and reality's alignment is non-existent!
It's because the moment the Word leaves God's mouth, the atmosphere MUST adapt.
Darkness has no defensive strategy against His voice!
John 1.5
"And the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not grasp it."
The Application:
So when my life feels chaotic, fragmented, or cloaked in spiritual darkness, I do not need to fight the darkness in my own strength. I need to position myself to hear the Voice of the Creator. One spoken word from Him brings immediate alignment to my chaotic spaces also!
Finally the Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Supreme Creator and Sovereign Lord of the Universe,
You are the One who commands the chaos, whose Voice speaks order into our desolation, and whose spoken Word puts the grand design of redemption into motion.
I thank You that the darkness in my life does not intimidate You, nor does it have the power to resist Your command.
Right now, I bring every area of my heart, my mind, and my circumstances that feels chaotic, dark, or uncertain under the Divine Authority of Your Voice. Speak into my life today, Lord. Deliver me, let there be light—over my doubts, my spiritual battles, and my struggles.
Let the light of Jesus Christ, the Living Logos, scatter every enemy assignment against me. Align my perspective with Your eternal timeline, looking forward to the day when darkness will be no more.
May Your light shine through me so brilliantly that the world around me experiences Your glorious presence.
In the mighty and authoritative name of Jesus Christ, our Eternal Light,
Amen.
In Short:
God's voice commands chaos into order, translating us from the kingdom of darkness into His marvelous light.
In the ancient world, the warfare was structural and cosmic. Satan’s grip on the ancient mind was maintained through the terrifying mystery of the unknown darkness. The nations believed they had to appease angry gods of storm and night.
When God spoke "Let there be light," it was a sudden, violent eviction notice to the territorial spirits of the ancient world.
The darkness shrunk back, utterly powerless, paralyzed by the realization that it was merely a canvas for Yahweh’s design.
But look at the paradigm shift for today...
The modern warfare is no longer about establishing physical light over a physical void.
The dramatic revealing is that the same voice that effortlessly commanded the physical cosmos into existence in Genesis 1:3 underwent a voluntary, agonizing silence on the cross of Calvary.
At the Crucifixion, physical darkness covered the land again (Luke 23:44).
Why is Because instead of just speaking light into the void, God allowed the darkness to swallow Him whole.
He didn't just command the elements from a safe, transcendent distance. He stepped directly into the spiritual warfare of our broken reality.
He let the darkness crush His physical body so that He could explode it from the inside out.
So the now perspective reveals that Genesis 1:3 was just the prelude. The ultimate spiritual warfare victory wasn't God speaking light into an empty universe;
it was God pouring His own glorious light into the dead, dark valleys of the human heart, transforming former rebels into carriers of the unquenchable, eternal Dawn!
GLORY!
Reflecting on the powerful declaration, "Let there be light," I find it resonates deeply with my own experiences of overcoming personal darkness and chaos. Often, life's challenges feel overwhelming, as if engulfed in a thick spiritual fog where clarity seems impossible. Yet, through regular prayer and meditation on scriptures like Genesis 1:3 and John 1:5, I've learned that the spoken word of God is not merely symbolic but an active, living force that can realign my perspectives instantly. One of the most transformative realizations for me has been understanding that darkness has no real defense against the Creator's voice. This means I don't need to wrestle with my struggles alone or rely solely on my strength. Instead, positioning myself to listen and respond to God's voice has brought profound peace and order in my life. I've experienced moments when a single prayer or declaration brought breakthrough, dispersing spiritual gloom and renewing hope. Moreover, recognizing that God allowed darkness to envelop Him during the Crucifixion changes my perspective on suffering and spiritual warfare. It highlights the depth of His engagement and victory over dark forces—not by avoiding the shadow but by conquering it from within. This truth encourages me to trust God even during the darkest seasons, knowing He is actively working to transform my heart and surroundings. In daily practice, I've started incorporating intentional moments to ‘‘hear’’ God's voice above the noise—whether through scripture reading, quiet reflection, or worship. These moments have made a tangible difference in aligning my chaotic thoughts and fears with divine order. The phrase "Let there be light" is no longer just a historical command but a living reminder that light and order are accessible every day through faith. For others who may feel trapped in spiritual darkness or uncertainty, I recommend embracing this transformative mindset shift. When chaos feels too much, pause and invite God’s voice in. Affirm His power to bring light to your situation, and watch how circumstances and your outlook begin to change. Truly, the eternal dawn shines brightest when welcomed into the darkest valleys of the human heart.
