During my recent visit to the Corner Bookstore on Madison Ave, one of New York City's popular bookstores, I was impressed by the sheer volume of books despite the small size of the store.
The bookstore is well-organized, making it a relaxing experience to browse through the collection.
I particularly enjoyed the selection of children's books, with a vast array of options to choose from.
The quiet and peaceful atmosphere of the store added to the overall experience, creating a library-like vibe.
While they do have a huge collection of books, I was looking for one book, The Mountain Is You, and I couldn't find it. I ended up finding it at another bookstore. This bookstore has some new books and a lot of older books, too.
If the store doesn't have the book you want, they'll happily order it for you and have it sent to your house.
For me, I prefer bigger bookstores so that you have the space to be by yourself and walk around and explore. This was a tight-spaced bookstore.

My recent visit felt like stepping into a peaceful literary haven, which is a rare find in bustling NYC. It's truly a cozy spot that offers a unique book-shopping experience.
Despite its compact size, I was genuinely impressed by how well-organized everything was. The shelves are neatly arranged, making it surprisingly easy to browse. You'll find a fantastic diversity of titles, from classic literature to contemporary bestsellers. I particularly loved exploring their vibrant children's book section, filled with colorful spines and beloved authors like Oliver Jeffers and William Steig – perfect for finding gifts or new bedtime stories. For adult readers, I noticed a great selection, including popular authors like Stephen King, with titles like 'Mr. Mercedes' and 'Fairy Tale' prominently displayed. There are even comfy benches where you can relax and dive into a new read!
While I didn't find the specific book I was looking for, 'The Mountain Is You,' on my last trip, the staff mentioned they are always happy to order any book for you and have it shipped directly to your home. This is such a great service, especially for those harder-to-find titles or when you just want the convenience. It’s comforting to know that even if a book isn't on the shelf, it’s just an order away. I even spotted some interesting titles like Peter Attia's 'Outlive: The Science & Art of Longevity' and Ayesha Curry's 'The Full Plate' cookbook, showcasing the store's wide genre selection.
The store has this wonderfully quiet, library-like atmosphere – a real escape from the city noise. It’s the kind of place where you can lose yourself for an hour, just enjoying the smell of books. From the charming exterior with its window display, stone lion, and pink potted flowers, to the inviting display tables inside, every detail adds to its appeal.
