Luke 7:12-15 NASB
"Now as He approached the gate of the city, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a sizeable crowd from the city was with her. [13] When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her and said to her, “Do not go on weeping.” [14] And He came up and touched the coffin; and the bearers came to a halt. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise!” [15] And the dead man sat up and began to speak. And Jesus gave him back to his mother."
When the dead has been raised back to life, how can they not speak of our wonderful God who saves? We who were once dead in our sin and wrong doings but now are born again, magnify the Lord. Speak to others about what he has done and is now doing in you. Get up and move and show signs of spiritual life.
Reflecting on Luke 7:12-15 provides a powerful reminder of Jesus' compassion and authority over life and death. This passage speaks not only to a historical event but also to the transformative power available to believers today. Personally, I have found that embracing the idea of being 'born again' brings a tangible sense of hope and renewal even amidst life's most difficult challenges. When Jesus commands the young man to "arise," it symbolizes a call to abandon spiritual death and embrace a vibrant life in God’s presence. In my own faith journey, this has meant moving beyond past mistakes and sins, allowing the transformative power of God's grace to heal and restore. Sharing this experience with others often inspires mutual encouragement and growth. Moreover, this passage encourages us not to remain silent but to share the testimony of what God has done in our lives. Speaking aloud our faith journey can bring comfort, ignite hope, and transform communities. Signs of spiritual life—such as kindness, forgiveness, and renewed purpose—become visible proofs of God’s working in us. In practical terms, living out this rebirth involves daily reflection, prayer, and actions that align with God's will. It's about manifesting love and compassion as Jesus did when He halted the bearers and restored life to the young man. For anyone feeling spiritually 'dead' or stagnant, this scripture is an invitation to rise, speak, and live anew. It reassures us that no situation is beyond God's power to restore and refresh. By embracing this passage, believers can find strength to speak hope into their lives and others’ lives, enriching their spiritual walk with meaningful vitality.
