products that sent me to the hospital
these products are so overhyped!
my beauty betrayal list:
-aquaphor
-blistex
-carmax
-chapstick
maybe it doesn’t give everyone a reaction or maybe just not YET, however these beauty products are what caused the biggest flare up for my lips. i want to know who also has dealt with this and what helped.
anything with essential oils, fragrance, or lanolin is an irritant for my skin. peppermint oils have always betrayed me and made my lips feel on fire.
what i use now is cocokind lips products (recognized by the national eczema association) and torriden lip essence (korean beauty that’s clean & vegan) be careful where you buy torriden from since korean skincare is so popular now. there’s a lot of fakes out there. buy directly from their website, trusted local asian markets, or from oliveyoung.

Many people with sensitive or eczema-prone skin are unaware that common beauty products, especially lip balms and glosses, can contain irritants that exacerbate their conditions. Ingredients such as lanolin, essential oils, fragrances, and peppermint oil have been identified as common culprits that trigger allergic reactions or severe flare-ups. Aquaphor, for example, contains lanolin and beeswax which can create dependency but often worsen the skin barrier over time. Similarly, popular products like NYX IV lip gloss serum and Naturium Phyto-Glow lip balm include fragrances and alcohol which may cause irritation and inflammation. Users suffering from lip eczema should be particularly cautious when selecting lip care products. It's essential to check ingredient labels and avoid any known irritants. Many people find relief using lip care brands recognized by trusted organizations, such as cocokind lips products, which are approved by the National Eczema Association. Another effective option is Torriden Lip Essence, a clean, vegan Korean skincare product. However, due to the rise in popularity of Korean beauty products, counterfeit versions are common, so purchasing from official websites or reputable sources like Olive Young or trusted local Asian markets is advised. It's also important to recognize the signs of severe flare-ups, including discoloration, intense burning, and worsening symptoms that might require medical attention. If a product causes such effects, discontinuing use immediately and consulting a healthcare professional is crucial. Sharing personal experiences with problematic products helps raise awareness in the community and supports those seeking safe alternatives for their sensitive skin. By focusing on ingredient safety and quality assured products, those with eczema-prone lips can prevent flare-ups and maintain healthier, more comfortable skin.
