froggie rice krispies 🐸
i know it’s a bit late but i wanted to share what i made for the holidays this year ❤️ They’re so easy to make and I really love the sweet marshmallowy crunchiness. These are matcha flavored and probably my favorite version!
~ matcha rice krispie treats ~
4 1/2 cup rice krispie cereal
10 oz bag mini marshmallows
1/3 cup butter
1 tbs matcha powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
- Melt butter in pan on medium heat
- After butter is melted, add vanilla extract and mini marshmallows
- After mixture is melted, add matcha powder
- Add rice krispie cereal and immediately stir to combine
- Pour out mixture onto a pan and spread out quickly (using clean hands dipped in water is the best way to get an even layer)
- Allow to set for an hour, then cut into pieces and enjoy! (i used a cookie cutter)
I dipped mine in royal icing with a bit of matcha, but white chocolate is also a great topping!

If you're anything like me, you're always on the lookout for super easy, delicious treats that don't require turning on the oven. That's exactly why these Matcha Rice Krispie Treats are an absolute game-changer! Not only are they quick to put together, but they’re also incredibly versatile and a huge hit with everyone. Let's dive a little deeper into how to make these no-bake wonders truly perfect. The magic starts with properly melting your butter and mini marshmallows. You'll want to melt 1/3 cup butter with a 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows over medium-low heat, stirring constantly. The key is to melt them until smooth, but avoid overheating, as this can make your treats too hard. Once the mixture is beautifully gooey, quickly stir in 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1 tbsp matcha powder. I always recommend sifting your matcha to prevent any clumps, ensuring a smooth, vibrant green color throughout your treats. Now for the fun part: adding the rice krispy cereal! This is where you need to be quick. Add 4 1/2 cups of rice krispie cereal and mix thoroughly, very quickly, before the mixture cools. The goal is to coat every single piece of cereal evenly with the marshmallow goodness. Once combined, it's time to spread. Pour out the mixture onto a pan and spread it out quickly. A little trick I learned is to lightly dampen your hands with water before pressing the mixture into the pan. This prevents stickiness and helps you get a perfectly even layer. Don't press too hard, though, or your treats might become dense. Just a gentle, firm press is all you need. These treats are fantastic for involving kids in the kitchen! They can help measure ingredients, stir the cereal (once the hot mixture has cooled slightly), and definitely get creative with shaping and decorating. Using a cookie cutter to shape them into individual bars is a brilliant idea, especially if you want to make them look extra cute for a party or a special snack. Beyond the basic recipe, there are so many ways to customize your matcha rice krispies. The OCR mentions decorating with sprinkles or other toppings, which is a fantastic idea! You could drizzle them with white chocolate, dark chocolate, or even a simple lemon glaze. For an extra matcha kick, I love the idea of making a simple matcha icing by mixing a bit of powdered sugar with matcha and a touch of milk until it reaches a thick consistency – just dip your cooled treats right in! Finally, ensure your treats are allowed to harden before serving. This usually takes about an hour at room temperature. Once set, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days to maintain their fresh, chewy texture. If you're wondering what else to make with rice crispies, these no-bake delights are just the beginning! Think about adding different mix-ins like chocolate chips, dried cranberries, or a swirl of peanut butter. The possibilities are endless when it comes to these easy, crunchy sweet treats. So, next time you're craving something sweet and effortless, give these matcha rice krispies a try – you won't regret it!
