GO BEYOND

Hey MHA fans and fellow artists! I've been getting so much love for my 'GO BEYOND!' My Hero Academia fan art, and I wanted to share a bit about my process and what inspired me to create this vibrant piece. When I hear 'Go Beyond,' it immediately makes me think of pushing limits, both in the anime and in my own drawing. It's not just a catchphrase; it's a philosophy that resonates deeply when you're trying to improve your skills. That's why I focused on giving Deku, Bakugo, Dabi, and Shigaraki really dynamic poses – I wanted to capture their raw energy and the intensity of their quirks, making it feel like they're bursting out of comic-style panels. For this drawing, I truly challenged myself to use bold lines and vivid hues to make each character pop. It’s not just about getting the anatomy right, but about conveying emotion, power, and their unique personalities through color and composition. For Deku, I focused on that hopeful, determined green, hinting at One For All’s power. Bakugo got his explosive oranges and yellows, reflecting his fiery temper and ambition. Dabi’s cool, sinister blues and purples contrast sharply with Shigaraki’s menacing grays and reds, really bringing out their different, yet equally compelling, vibes. Thinking about how the anime uses these elements, especially in fight scenes, helped guide my color choices a lot. If you're looking to 'go beyond' in your own MHA fan art, here are a few tips I've learned that have really helped me. First, don't be afraid to experiment with perspective. Instead of drawing characters straight on, try angling them from above or below, or making them seem like they're leaping directly towards the viewer. This instantly adds that dynamic feel and makes your art more engaging. Secondly, pay close attention to the little details that make each MHA character unique – Dabi's distinctive staples and scars, Bakugo's spiky, gravity-defying hair, Deku's earnest expression and iconic freckles, and Shigaraki's cracked hands that convey his destructive quirk. These small elements really bring them to life and make your fan art recognizable and personal. Another thing that helps immensely is studying official MHA art and manga panels. Observe how the original creators use lighting and shadow to create depth, drama, and a sense of movement. I tried to incorporate a manga panel style into my work, using borders and overlapping elements to create a sense of narrative and action within a single image, almost like a snapshot from an epic battle. Don't be afraid to use reference photos for challenging poses, especially for hands or complex body movements – even experienced artists rely on them! It's about learning, not copying. Remember, the journey of an artist is all about continuously striving to improve, to push past your current limits, and to 'go beyond' what you thought you were capable of. My Hero Academia has such a rich universe with countless incredible characters, from the inspiring heroes like Deku and Bakugo to the complex and compelling villains like Dabi and Shigaraki.
