When I ignored my intuition
My body told truth before I was ready to.
This pain wasn’t just physical. It was my spirit breaking down from staying where I wasn’t safe. I ignored the tension in my chest, the stomach knots, the sleepless nights… until it showed up in ways I couldn’t hide.
This is a reminder: your body doesn’t lie.
For Domestic Violence Awareness, I’m sharing this so someone else knows, if your body feels like it’s shutting down, it’s time to check what (or who) you’ve been forcing it to survive. 💜

Ignoring your intuition can lead to significant emotional and physical distress. Often, our bodies send us signals that we are in harmful situations, yet we dismiss them. Common manifestations include skin breakouts, loss of appetite, and chronic fatigue. In your healing journey, acknowledging these signs is crucial. For instance, skin issues often indicate internal turmoil, while an unstable appetite might reflect anxiety and stress. Fatigue can be your body's way of signaling that it is overwhelmed by emotional distress. It’s essential to engage in self-reflection and listen to your body’s requests for change. By distancing ourselves from toxic relationships or environments, we allow healing to begin. This process may involve recognizing past wounds and actively working towards emotional wellness. Support groups, therapy, and forums pertaining to domestic violence awareness can be immensely beneficial. Emphasizing the principle of self-love—affirming one's worth—is vital to fighting back against negative experiences. Remember, leaving a toxic situation is not a sign of weakness; it’s a courageous step towards survival and healing. If you or someone you know is struggling, encouraging them to listen to their body could potentially save a life.
